My One S has arrived, lovely phone and it did come with a free set of UrBeats headphones. Now I just need to go to all the agro of getting it set up like my old one. Lets see if I can find a free version of Tapatalk. EDIT: O and I forgot I got 23GB of dropbox free with it.
Does your Mum cut your hair for you? Not sure why I'm taking the piss, you're obviously good with money. I wish I had that kind of financial restraint
Already 50/50 about sending it back. This thing gets worse signal than my N1, especially when I hold it. It sometimes completely drops out. Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
Called Vodafone it is going back, not putting up with a phone that loses signal when held. Only annoying thing is that I have to wait for new big sim. Old one apparently won't work since number transfered to micro sim. Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
Do you live in a Faraday cage or something? The only time I have no signal is when I go into the big Tesco. I think they jam the signals so you can't find the people you're with and spend more time wandering the aisles picking up more and more crisps.
I think it is partly Vodafone being crap. At home it has signal, albeit only 2 bars and when I pick it up it loses it all. Not going to put up with that so got to wait for returns bag now. Might go into Vodafone shop and pick up a sim tomorrow so that I can put this in its box until the bag comes. Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
Back on the N1 but with no network. I will probably drop the one s or something now that it is going back and they will reject it.
No going back now, just called Vodafone to have my number switched to a new large SIM and once that is done then it will be factory reset and put back in its box to go to the Post Office at lunch time. It is a shame really as I did like it, it was very quick, browsing was fantasic, the camera was very good and just turned my N1 back on and it feels old. But at the same time I couldn't handle that drop in signal all the time AND I still don't want to get tied into another 2 year deal.
At the moment maybe, I have to wait another 30 days from when Vodafone reset my contract as I need to give another month's notice. Then I will either go to T-Mobile and get the Xperia U on the £21/month contract OR go to Three or VM and get a £10-£12/month SIM only 30 day contract and keep the N1 for now. Don't get me wrong I liked having a fast new phone BUT I didn't like the idea of being tied in for 2 years again, its a long time and you just don't know what is going to happen. What happens if I lose my job in 6 months? I still HAVE to pay 18 months of the contract.. Also the Xperia U only has 512MB RAM which I have been reading isn't a good idea for ICS so hopefully it gets released and benchmarked soon so I can make a decision. The ONE S is all bagged up and ready to go. Couldn't get the plastic on the front to smooth down nice like it came so it looks all bubbly but I would rather have it on to prevent damage in transit. I even took loads of pictures of the phone, front and back on an SLR to prove that it left me with no damage! The phone had a £30 charge when i ordered it. Vodafone put a £30 credit on my account which just shows as a good will gesture. Who knows, when they reverse it out it may also put £30 credit back on my account and not take off the good will gesture as I assume it is an automated process. Have to wait and see, I don't expect anything but if it works out that way it will be a nice bonus.
Yes it is out, I meant the ICS update. Hopefully that will be out and reviewed by the time my Vodafone contract ends.
The best thing to do is root your phone straight away, then you can remove the useless bloatware apps and/or flash a better ROM. Original android or a stripped down stock ROM will run more smoothly on the 512mb RAM. My phone only has 512mb RAM but runs smoothly. Almost apart from when I slide to my calender home screen since I have a themed calender widget which seems to only load up the dates when the widget is onscreen. It worked fine on gingerbread. I'm on a custom kernel and now get 30+ hours battery life on a 1500mah battery, which is improved a lot over the standard battery life
