An early preview of the i7 7700k isn't that impressive. It looks like they just overclocked the Skylake 6700k and called it a day. 7% faster processor +300Mhz 38% higher power usage 85% higher temps I don't care about the power usage so much but that temp increase is crazy. 82 in an open air test with a Noctua’s NH-U12S will probably be over 90 in a closed case. This is an early preview so maybe things will improve. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews...00k-overclocking-performance-review,4836.html
The consumer level quad core Core i7s have basically been the same thing year after year since the Haswell 4770 in 2013. And the last huge leap in performance was Sandy Bridge back in 2011. Consumer level CPUs have become boring.
Yeah but while the Ivy Bridge may have only been 5% faster than Sandy Bridge I don't think it was worse in anyway. The 6700K might actually be a better choice than the 7700K for some people.
Skylake 6700K is beaten by older Intel CPUs in the important Pi test. Will Kaby Lake not fix that fiasco? http://www.minaware.com/benchmark/scores/pi/
