There are no motion picture establishments in the area I live in. I must use one of those fancy steam powered locomotives to reach one.
yes, like a movie or literally the TV show. that's really the best explanation of the game. straight up quick time events and choice in decision making/conversation. A mix of dragon's lair and monkey Island.
Galaxy on Fire 2, which has always been one of the nicer looking games on iOS, has a new expansion coming up in the Fall...
One of my personal favorite titles on iOS is coming out with a new version later in 2012: Real Racing 3. Apparently it's going to support up to 22 cars during races. Video below is from a pre-alpha build. TouchArcade says that there currently isn't any info on the range of hardware that will be supported.
Pottery HD. An unexpected hit of few last weeks. My wife and my daughters play it over and over again.
No point getting it unless you've got the new iPad. This is what I hate about the idea of tablets being used as a serious gaming platform. You want to keep up to date with the newest and best games? Better shell out £400 every couple of years then, no thanks.
Eh? The iphone 4s and ipad 2 are quite capable of running that game. Hell, that game is coming to android devices which is just starting to hit iphone 4s gpu quality. The new ipad is extremely overkill for most if not all games. The only reason behind its massive gpu power is because of the display resolution which is crazy high even in terms of pc gaming. So games made for its retina display will need the new ipad, while the ipad 2 will run this game just fine on its 1024x768 resolution. You're sounding like your PC vs console arguments all over again. You might want to learn a bit about the technology you're arguing against before talking down on it.
My current iPhone and iPad will be unable to cope with games of that quality. Even if they can play the game it will be either really laggy or the detail will be insanely low. Like I said, after only a couple of years you have to keep upgrading if you want to play the latest games at a half decent quality on mobile devices. The life cycles are too short. I can't find any system requirements for the game so I can't validate my claims but my phone can't handle Infinity Blade II, I know the phone has been out for 3 years but that's still a much shorter life cycle than a console. My iPad might be able to run it but I held off Real Racing 2 after I saw how shit it looked on the first gen iPad so yeah, even if this game does run on my device that's only 2-3 years old it will run like shit, therefore if you want to stay up to date with the current games and actually have them play well and look good you have to keep updating your hardware every 2-3 years, which I'm not prepared to do. I'd rather buy a console and have that for 5 years.
Actually, there were two versions of Real Racing 2: the original release, which came out before the iPad 2 was available, and the HD version, which came out later and had some added elements/features that were specific to the iPad 2...like higher resolution graphics and video mirroring to your TV. The original iPad can run RR2HD just fine, but with lower graphic detail than iPad 2 and not at 60 frames per second like the iPad 2. In general, the mistake that you're making is thinking that software developers are ahead of the curve when it comes to hardware. It's the opposite: they're always behind the curve. That's why there was such a huge visual and technical performance gap between Oblivion and Skyrim.
If you were curious on how much money successful mobile games can rake in, here's an extreme example, and also paints a picture on Epic Games' decision to put more focus into mobile gaming. Quick and easy money. And since the mobile market is on fire right now, word of mouth is the strongest advertising.
Couple of new iOS related game trailers that looked interesting... Tengami Reminds me of Okami quite a bit. The pop-up mechanic for entering into new areas seems pretty unique. It's also going to be released for PC/Mac. N.Y. Zombies 2 Never played the original, but this looks better than many indie shooters that I've seen on iOS. Free roam looks decent as well.
