Bastion is now available for the iPad (EDIT: iPad2 or later) for $4.99. I believe bfun originally created a thread for this game when it came out for other platforms, and it's certainly getting enthusiastic initial responses on iTunes. Looks quite sharp!
Downloading now. I was interested in this when it came out for Xbox but never really wanted to take the plunge despite it getting rave reviews all over the place. I've been looking for a new game for my ipad since I haven't touched FF3 or Monkey Island for a while now.
I ignored this one at first, but it actually looks kind of interesting once you get past the initial levels: Blast-A-Way by Illusion Labs...who also did the rather popular Touchgrind BMX.
A word of warning regarding bastion. Despite them saying the game is "compatible with iPad" if you expand all the info you'll find tucked away near the bottom they say you require an iPad 2 or New iPad, that's not the same as "compatible with iPad" since iPad is the name of the first iPad. I've just wasted £2.99, cunts. It gets to a loading screen then the app quits out. This is why tablets are not a viable solution as full time game machines. The iPad I've got is less than 3 years old and I can't play any of the new good games. Case closed.
fragmentation. lol jk, does itunes not have a quick refund option? The Google play store gives you 15min from time of purchase to get an instant refund. it's painless.
Yeah, I just changed my prior post. They're sure to get some complaints with having the Requirements: text on the side worded incorrectly vs. the expanded info. Small consolation: the purchase is linked to your account, so if/when you did get newer hardware, you would still be able to download the game. That's a definite blunder on the part of Supergiant and Warner Bros. though. Or you can try and see if Apple will refund. Here's the steps you can take once you have the emailed receipt for purchase: http://www.labnol.org/software/itunes-app-store-refunds/13838/ The guy that lists the steps got a refund for mistakenly buying the iPhone version of an app instead of the iPad version. Seems like your case is even more justified than that...
I emailed them and sent them a tweet and they responded with apologies for the confusion. They went on to say they can't release an update to facilitate OG iPad compatibility due to memory and other technical constraints and instructed me on how to get a refund. I may just buy it on the Xbox. Funny thing is after I realised the misleading info I figured they must have a twitter presence and sure enough an hour before I checked twitter they'd tweeted a notice saying you must have a newer iPad. I guess I wasn't the only one to be caught out.
A new Rayman game is going to be released for iOS, and it looks like another platform/endless runner hybrid. The animation inspired art style looks quite slick...sort of reminds me of the visuals in Don Bluth video games like Dragon's Lair.
Rayman is there. It looks just beautiful on the Retina. There are four worlds of 10 levels and while just finishing a level is easy, the real challenge is to get all lumas. The controls work surprisingly well, you just jump/fly with a touch on the left and punch with a touch on the right part of the screen while Rayman just runs on his own. Anyway, one of the best ipad games so far, at least in my opinion.
Square Enix brings the WTF with Demon's Score...apparently some sort of Elite Beat Agents inspired rhythm game, but the trailer is campy and bizarre, complete with horrendous rap/rock soundtrack. "Welcome to my recycle of madness, Senora..."
The Room has been quite fun so far. The puzzles are intriguing and provide some challenge without being frustrating or seeming cheap, and it has the requisite hallmark of a good game: you lose track of time while playing.
This game looks quite amusing, and the use of a hair metal theme song combined with the game title is inspired...
Badland, an upcoming game with some very cool visuals, soothing sounds, simple controls, and splatterific physics...
I've been playing Devil's Attorney and found it to be quite fun. It's basically a simplified version of a turn-by-turn card battling game, where you have various skills related to evidence and witnesses that can be used to damage the case of the prosecuting attorney. Eliminate all their points before they eliminate yours and you win the case. Use the $$ from winning the case to furnish your apartment and buy personal items, both of which will either bump up your skills in certain areas, or provide specific advantages during cases. So the gameplay isn't all that unusual, but the sense of humor and art style make it very unique. It has a high degree of polish, and the difficulty level on 'Normal' provides some challenge without being frustrating.
