Completed Dishonored the other day. I wasn't too keen on it at first but once I started opening up the powers and getting the hang of stealth then the fun factor really increased. Probably didn't help that I only learnt I could do stealth takedowns after the halfway point. By then I was already on the chaotic ending so the final level was a bloody mess of death. If you fancy a game that mixes Splinter Cell with Assassin's Creed within an atmospheric and different setting then I'd recommend it.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown At first I couldn't stop playing but then it got repetitive. The ending was also a bit of a let down but I'll give it points for being so unique. 8/10
I'm going to say that I completed Red Dead Redemption. I didn't bother with the teaching my son lessons at the end. Unless someone gives me a compelling reason to continue I'm done.
Dishonored 8/10 I really like this game. Each chapter was unique and fun. I'd say it was almost as good as Deus Ex Human Revolution. I thought the ending was lame but I think it leaves the future open to a second game.
Yeah you missed a key point early in the game but it wasn't until half way through before I mastered the teleport kill. I also had the power that turns all the bodies to ash so I was getting pretty bad ass with deadly stealth. I went full chaos as well. Mostly because it's a lot easier than ghosting and choking.
It's a shame you can't just replay chapters to get the other trophies and stuff. I missed 1 painting so I'd have to redo the whole game for the trophy. Maybe another time when the game is less fresh in my memory.
I picked up the DLC for Dishonored yesterday. Called the Dunwall trials, it's a series of challenges that are apparently harder than anything you would find in the original missions. Some have you performing chain takedowns (have 5 seconds or something between killing each guard) and others are assassination based (like finding clues which reveal who your target is on the map and taking them out). Each mission is rated out of 3 stars, and I've found the 3 star rating is almost impossible to get in some of the challenges. Recommend it if you loved Dishonored and prefer a harder difficulty.
I still cannot make up my mind about Dishonored. Watched some gameplay on youtube, read few reviews. And I am still afraid that this is NOT comparable to old good Thief. How about a word for someone who loved Thief 1 & 2 and who waits for Thief 4 - is Dishonored worth it?
Just finished darksiders II. Pretty good game like the first was. There are many differences between War and Death which was nice as I did feel I was playing a different character entirely, just wish Death could move as fast when climbing as War. For the second game in a row we have seen the 4 horsemen called. That is probably my only gripe, when I finished the first and war called the others I expected 2 would have all of them. It is a bit of a shame they chose to tell a side by side story, what Death was doing while War was trying to clear his name. If they do make a 3rd I would rather a game with all 4 rather than another single with one of the other 2. Definitely underrated games of this generation. Hopefully someone with loads of cash buys THQ so they can throw big money at a third. Moving onto dishonoured which seems to have a large install.
To me Darksiders looked like of God of War and I didn't really care for God of War. Dishonoured is a good game. One of my favorites of 2012.
Darksiders is God of War crossed with Zelda. Lots of puzzles and items tied to puzzles and Zelda style dungeons with a lot of combat. Obviously the theme is a lot darker than your normal Zelda.
I tried a few hours of Dishonoured and it didn't grab me. I love the setting and art style, but the gameplay just seemed a bit tedious. I kinda got the same vibe as Bioshock - loved the art, setting and basics of the story, but found the game tedious after an hour. I'll have another go at it soon and hopefully I play enough to get hooked.
Quick warning regarding trophies: you can't go back and replay individual chapters for collectibles. I missed 1 painting in the 2nd chapter so I'd need to replay the whole game and collect them all to get it. Same rule applies for a no kill run.
