Yeah I noticed and will have already missed loads. If I enjoy it enough I might do a no detection/kill run in a couple of months as have Arkham city to play after this.
I finished the last chapter of The Walking Dead last night. The writing was very impressive. I had been wondering how important some of the early choices had been, but something from an early chapter ended up having a significant impact on chapter 5. I'm curious to see how this will play through making significantly different choices. I'd agree that this is one of the better games of 2012. The strength of the writing and structure really elevated the quality. Also, the voice actors, particularly those who played Lee and Clementine, were excellent. I was shocked to discover that the actress who played the 8-year-old Clementine character is actually two years older than me. If you can grab this for $12.50 on Steam, I definitely would. A second game to follow up this one is planned, and Telltale hopes to work out a way for the saves carry over from what I read in an article a few days ago.
Everyone keeps banging on about the walking dead game but it looks pretty crap to me. A load of cartoony cut scenes mixed in with some QTE moments. QTE was cool 15 years ago, now it's just lazy. I don't watch the show either so that doesn't help, plus I played telltales back to the future game so... I'm less than eager to buy this. But everyone says its awesome.
I was just echoing what some of my friends said. First 2 eps got a super huge buildup, then it drops down like it rollercoaster. I haven't finished it, so I can't confirm this at all. AKS likes it so who knows. This is what Telltale Games does. Their purpose in existing is to bring back these types of games that older pc gamers used to play back in the day and bring them to a more modern age. The company consists of some ex-Lucasarts developers that worked on their adventure games from that era. Their games may very well not be your cup of tea if you didn't like them back then either (Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Sam and Max, Monkey Island, The Dig, etc). Walking Dead from Telltale Games looks "cartoony" because it's based off of the graphic novel. Telltale branched its own storyline with Robert Kirkman (walking dead author) overseeing it. So the artwork is actually based on the graphic novel. Gameplay of these games are 90% storytelling rather than focusing on the gamplay itself. So TLDR, the draw to the game is that it's as close to a new authentic Walking Dead storyline as you can get. I believe Activsion's take on Walking Dead is more of your cup of tea. Yea, be thankful that we have TellTale Game's version.
I remember how accurate your assessment of Uncharted based on watching a short video was. You were punchdrunk and huffing swamp gas. This game isn't based on the TV show, although the comic book, TV show, and Telltale game all have the same writer, Robert Kirkman. Also, Telltale games do not have the budget of a GTA game. This was the year of the small developer. It was impressive that they were able to do so much with so little, especially using licensed material, which is generally a red flag warning that a game will be garbage. ThatGameCompany and Telltale outperformed the big budget blockbusters and won a boatload of GOTY awards with great design, writing, creativity, and artistic brilliance. Isn't an episode or so of The Walking Dead available for free on PSN? Maybe you should try playing through a chapter or two rather than making uninformed judgments based on looking at a picture or a video.
I've discovered a way to get a real form of antialiasing working with The Walking Dead, at least if you have an Nvidia card. I've tested it; this method works. You'll need Nvidia Inspector. Head to the profile for The Walking Dead. You'll need to input 0x200002C1 for AA compatibility. Then turn on 4x MSAA and 4x sparse grid super sampling AA. Change LOD bias to -1.000 and make sure it is set to Allow rather than Clamp. This seemed to clean up the image considerably without blurring up the screen. It's not a demanding or technically advanced game, so with a decent card you'll have plenty of power to use a potent form of AA.
I finished Sleeping Dogs yesterday. I was disappointed that I only made it up to Triad level 9. I'll make sure I start raising Face level faster so I can wear the best Triad clothes early if I run through it again. I maxed the police level maybe midway to 2/3 through the game. I also managed to find all of Wei's sifu's statues. It was a very decent open world game. What really set it apart was the Hong Kong style and adoption of HK undercover cop/ triad dramas. I'm glad I saw the Infernal Affairs movies (much better than the remake, The Departed) before I played through Sleeping Dogs. This game was a steal at $17.
Everything played out so good in that game in the storyline. I felt Wei's thirst for revenge... so bad. oh so bad.
Single player was OK, but I wouldn't say good. I hold every urban combat game out there against the original call of duty 4: modern warfare. Nothing can hold a candle to that game yet. BF3 did have quite a few memorable sequences though.
It was pretty damn shit and such a missed opportunity. They've got this brilliant engine that offers so many opportunities but its the worst, most linear, unbalanced, repetitive, boring and frustrating single player FPS campaign I've ever played.
Well I didn't care for the multi-player. I can't put my finger on it but it was just missing something. BF2 was still a better urban combat game. One of the best actually.
I wasn't a fan of BF3 multiplayer either. I didn't really like the maps I tried. Most of them seemed to be either too large or too small for the number of people playing, none of them were terribly interesting, and there weren't many of them. It was also way too run and gun for my tastes. It felt like a Call of Duty clone with a few vehicles thrown in. I also hated how the base multiplayer game felt like a demo to sell you overpriced map packs and expansions. I can see why it was $7 on Amazon when I bought it. If BF3 and ME3 are really the caliber games EA is going to use to try to push Origin, I see them crawling back to Valve/Steam eventually begging and pleading to be let back in.
The campaign was pretty uninteresting and boring. I did like the russian missions better than the others. Multiplayer is alright if you're actually good at it. Conquest is the only mode that's really worth playing, imo. The biggest part of multiplayer is knowing the maps. Some are quite good (like Caspian Border) and others are pretty stupid (Metro). If you're not aware of the best cover routes and the choke spots on the maps, you're screwed. Probably the most annoying thing with the larger maps is Jet spam. It plays almost the same as Bad Company 2, except you've got prone, the support class and the ability to strafe. I would probably still give the nod to BC2 though, especially for maps. Origin is gay. Steam > Origin.
For the moment I'm done with Far Cry 3. I'm sure there will be some DLC coming out soon. I'd give it a solid 8/10.
Looks like 67. That's the main story, towers, outpost, supply drops and rare animals from the path of the hunter. Didn't do the letters, totems, wanted posters, or non rare animals.
