Transistor I kind of liked it. Isometric RPGish game by the makers of Bastion. Quite liked the mechanics in the end but it felt short and a bit limited. Also, the storyline was shit and I had no clue what was going on; mainly out of boredom. Not bad for PS+ but I wouldn't recommend buying it.
Tomb Raider reboot: Just finished this now. Really enjoyed it especially given the Uncharted feel as well. Would say I am looking forward to the sequel(Rise of the Tomb Raider) but its Xbox exclusive for now so meh.
I wanted to like that game. The music, the art, and the atmosphere were all great but like you said the story was kind of undefined. I think that was intentional though like the game was meant to be a sensory experience and the story wasn't a critical part of that. It was like Uncharted but the story didn't go as deep and I think that was it's weak point.
The story was okay, but it was her origin story so it was okay with me as it was more about building her up into the tomb raider we know.
Batman: Arkham City: Forgot that I still had this to play. I was actually quite near the end so I finished it within a few hours. Good game but I preferred Asylum more for some reason.
I just finished this tonight. I'll go ahead and say that it is actually just as good as season 1. Shit was even more emotional than season 1. SPOILERS I thought kenny's character development was awesome. It kept playing with your emotions if you should defend him even though you saw him breaking down. Especially since everything you two have been through from season 1. In the end, Jane was right about everything all along. And that flashback with Lee after clementine gets shot by Arvo was genius. I wouldn't even be mad if that's how the season ended. Clem leans up against Lee and tears runs down and it fades back to her bleeding out on the snow and all the sounds fading out. She dies. Credits roll. End
Who did you save at the very end though? I saved Kenny as he was awesome even though he was going crazy. Looking forward to a season 3 but it seems well off considering they are fully working on Game of thrones and Tales from the Borderlands.
Jane. dude was losing it. jane was right about everything. if you were to put things in a perspective and considering survival, kenny was a liability at that point. If you think back to when you and jane were scouting things out together, she predicted everything would happen the way it did. in the end, kenny blamed you for sarita, whatever sense that made. she was his responsibility. he became reclusive.. i'd even say he was the one that pushed arvo to the point where he shot you for no reason. he was about to kill jane for losing the baby. he ignored clementine's pleas for him to stop. she should've never been put in that position to kill him. ticking time bomb. i didn't even hesitate choosing to save jane. click click.
I did think about it at first as she was the right choice but it's Kenny man KENNY! Got to love some Kenny. The final scene he seemed back to normal considering the baby was alive all the time, but I guess that was Jane showing Clem what Kenny would do. Such a great series, season 3 needs to hurry up. Btw, have you played a wolf among us yet? Another great series from Taletale.
no. I'm thinking of starting that next. I've had it sitting in my steam library for awhile. and hopefully, this year's steam summer sale will have game of thrones and dontnod's life is strange on sale and I'll grab those.
Amazon had Game of Thrones for Android for free a while back. I got it but haven't played it. It's probably just the first episode.
GTA V Pros: It has one of the most impressive, detailed game worlds I've seen yet. It's fun to dick around and cause mayhem. Trevor is the insane, over the top comic relief character this series desperately needed after GTA 4 was so dreary and depressing. Being able to switch between characters is cool. Sticky bombs are cool. Cons: In a game that otherwise gives you so much freedom, the story missions feel really linear and by the numbers. I didn’t feel like the choices you could make before the heists had that big of an impact on the game. There aren’t enough heists that leveling up crew members really matters, and leveling up stats doesn’t seem to have that big of an impact. Take flying for instance. The planes still handle like crap even if you take flying lessons. The missions also feel pretty random and disconnected, or at best loosely connected. I never really felt like they developed into a bigger overall story arc. That's not to say that there are no fun missions. There are a few. They're just mixed in with a lot of dull, linear filler missions. Even the final mission is all over the place. It was like they couldn't find a way to tie all of the stories together, so they just have the characters go off in three different directions and take out different boss type characters from the storylines. Also, with how crash prone this buggy game is, it really annoyed me that I couldn’t save during missions. Having to repeat the same 30 minute long heist mission five times because the game keeps crashing and you can’t save anywhere during the mission gets very tiresome. 7.5/10 – fun but also incredibly overrated. Most of the fun comes from murdering random people and causing mayhem, not the missions. The missions feel like a chore to get better weapons to use to murder random people. I guess you could say that about most GTA games. I would just think by this point they would focus on making the story missions better.
Overall going off script has always been the most fun. Vice City was the only one I finished. Something about 80s Miami, the music, Ray Liotta that just worked to perfection. Still the best GTA in my opinion.
Resident Evil: Revelations: The first Resident Evil game since 4 that actually felt and played like a Resident Evil game. I really enjoyed this game. 7/10
Child of Light It's a really good game for what it was. It's a grind but not in a a bad way. The art was great and the story good. 8/10
Wolfenstein The New Order A game that doesn't seem to know its own strengths. The alternate history setting is cool. The Nazis even have a moon base. And when it lets you cut loose and murder Nazis, it's fun. But it has way too much boring filler that screws up the pacing. I swear there's some kind of boring puzzle or fetch quest thing between every mission and it gets really tiresome. It also suffers from some bad level design, where it's often not clear where you need to go next. And it has weird jumps in difficulty where it feels like it wasn't play tested properly. 6.5/10
That was pretty much my opinion as well. It had brief A game moments separated by a lot of C game old school FPS drudgery.
COD: Advanced Warfare: First COD I have played since MW3 and the story was actually pretty epic. Multiplayer is a bit lame though as its same old same old.
Far Cry 4 It's Far Cry 3 in the mountains with a gyrocopter, elephants, and killer eagles and honey badgers. And that's just fine because FC3 was an amazing game. I actually had more fun with this one. There was more to see and do. Also the main character was less of a douchebag. I came away from FC3 really hating Jason Brody. What a fuckhead. The CIA guy even makes a joke about him in this one. FC3 had a better intro though and a more memorable villain. This one started off slow after the first encounter with Pagan Min and took some time to get interesting. 8/10
