The glowing sea was odd. At first it seems like it's off the map but then you figure that you can go there. But then you figure out there is no reason to go there. The first time crossing it without any fast travel is kind of cool. Lots of dangerous stuff there and the children of the Atom
Tomb Raider 2013 Reboot Really similar to the Uncharted series. I enjoyed the gameplay in Tomb Raider quite a bit. The shooting and climbing were pretty polished and it has good level design. There are quick time events, but they aren't done in a way that's annoying. That being said, I think the Uncharted series has better storytelling. The storytelling in Tomb Raider felt a bit shallow to me. A lot of it is told through journal entries which you have to go out of your way to find, none of the characters are very interesting other than Lara, and I feel like the mysterious island setting has become kind of a cliche. Still, I thought they did a good job of creating a sense of danger in the early parts of the game. Lara is initially weak and totally outmatched. There are a couple of scenes early on that are kind of rapey that make you feel powerless. Over the course of the game she basically turns into Rambo, complete with exploding arrows. I think anyone who likes Uncharted will probably like the new Tomb Raider and vice versa. I had fun with this and I'll probably give Rise of the Tomb Raider a go at some point now that it's on Steam. 8/10
Witcher III: Hearts of Stone They take the game in a slightly different direction and I think it pays off rather well The main villain is one of the best in recent memory. 9/10
I just got the platunim on New N Tasty. About to do Alf's Escape dlc and then I can delete it and get that precious 8gb back.
Assassins Creed III I liked it at first but by the second half it got boring. The controls were clunky and glitches were common. I didn't feel compelled to do any side missions, make or sell any goods, or even buy a single weapon and in the end it never really mattered. 6/10
Uncharted 4: What an amazing game and such a roller coaster of a ride. U4 is the best of series and it is also such a gorgeous looking game. Sad that this may be the last ever one, for Drake at least.
It looks amazing. I'll probably pick up a PS4K NEO later this year when it launches, and Uncharted 4 will be the first game I buy.
If you liked the original you will love the rest as they upgrade in quality story and set pieces is massive. Give U2 a go if you have it.
I got the Nathan drake collection a few months back, got half way through the first one (I've completed it before) and then stopped playing. Still haven't touched 2 or 3, I'm in no rush to get 4, but eventually I'll play through the whole lot. I recently drunkenly reinstalled Shadow of Mordor, after deleting stuff to make room of course. I figured I should platinum it before deleting it to make room for Doom. I played it before and thought that the combat was good but really tedious. This time around I greatly enjoyed the game, I'd give it a solid 9/10, I don't really know how they could have made it better. So brutal, and I really hope the awesome nemesis system comes back in another game. Manipulating the enemy ranks never got old.
Shadow of Mordor was amazing. I thought it set a new standard for combat in action RPGs. I felt like the nemesis system made it a more interesting assassination game than anything in the Assassin's Creed series.
Tales of Zestiria. Now to wait for the next entry in the series which will be having its first female protagonist.
Uncharted 4. It was good; definitely the most amazing looking game I've played. Wouldn't say it was the best Uncharted though; thought 2 was better and would put it on a par with 3. Not enough combat; what was there was excellent but nowhere near enough. The last boss fight was awful; I don't know why the Uncharted struggle so badly with final boss fights but this one was a new low. Some of the narrative led bits really outstayed there welcome; the exploring the house in the past and the epilogue were particularly bad offenders. Shame. With some better paced balancing of action and story editing, this could have been up there with the best for me.
I actually preferred having less combat than the older games. I always found the gunplay sections at the latter parts of the games to be fairly tedious. The old house parts did slow the pace quite dramatically but the second one, i felt, worked well to show us what could have been for the Drakes. I had no issues with the epilogue either. Whilst it could have been done in a cutscene, it was nice to explore at your own pace. Very satisfying ending to the series as well.
Batman: Arkham Knight: As with Asylum and City I really enjoyed this game. I managed to complete everything except all of the Riddler trophys and stuff to complete his side quest. Might do that and go for the platinum sometime. Still have to platinum Uncharted 4 as well.
Doom Pros: pretty much everything about this game is great: graphics, music, gameplay. It stays true to the classic Doom games, but feels new at the same time. Just an all around great mix of old and new. It has one of the best single player campaigns of any FPS I've played. Cons: The campaign was so good I didn't want it to end. The multiplayer is just average. Also, how about a boss fight with Satan? I'd love a Doom game that ends with you punching Satan in the dick. 9/10
