I completed the core story of Ni No Kuni 2, but it looks like there are still a lot of quests and things to do, many of which it appears can't be accessed until after you've completed the main portion of the game.
Far Cry 5 It's a fun game, at least from a gameplay standpoint. The attack helicopters are awesome. I loved being able to send a pet grizzly bear in to maul people. The Montana setting is pretty cool. It's well optimized and looks great. I bet it would be a blast to play in co-op. But the story is bad and the endings are all dumb. It also gets very annoying being drugged and kidnapped right in the middle of doing something fun and being dragged off to Cutscene Land to listen to tiresome villain speeches about who gives a crap what. And this happens a lot throughout the game. TLDR: Fun game with a bad story. Will be a great buy when it's <$30. 7.5/10
The previous games were the same. No matter how invincible you were, there was an in game sequence that got you captured so the story could progress. The drugged/brainwashed stuff seemed like a dumb way to do it but it was really just more of the same. Did you do both ending? I managed to choose the one that I didn't want. I hit the escape key to pause the game but wouldn't you know it, they were being funny mapped the escape key to the escape option. Fortunately, when I continued, it picked up right before the ending and I was able to choose again. Of course that ending was even more dumb but at least I got to do the final battle.
Yes, and i hated both of them. There's also a fakeout ending you can initiate at the beginning of the game where you just walk away instead of trying to arrest the father, similar to the eat the crab rangoon ending in FC4.
Time to update this thread, have completed the following recently: God of War III Remastered (PS4) - awesome game, I never owned/played it on PS3, so this was my first time, loved it from beginning to end. If you like action games, this one delivers. I hope to get the new God of War when it goes on sale sometime. Yakuza 1 Kiwami - watched my wife play through this one, she's now becoming a huge fan of this series and wants me to buy Yakuza 0 so she can start that one next. Pretty interesting game, as someone that's been to Japan multiple times, the atmosphere of the game is the most authentic recreation of Japan culture/nightlife I've seen yet. This game feels like a beat 'em up meets GTA. The combat did get repetitive after a while from what I saw, but the linear story seemed like an improvement over a lot of the open world games nowadays that just feel hollow. Far Cry 5 - I had fun with the campaign in this one from beginning to end. I think not much to say other than what is already said in the posts before me. If you like Far Cry games, you'll probably like this one, just don't expect the most spectacular game ever. Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice - this is probably the 2nd best game I've played in the past year, with the best going to Divinity Original Sin 2. This game felt really fresh and unique, incredible voice acting, very interesting story and absolutely gorgeous graphics. If you haven't tried this game, check it out.
I recently played through the new God of War game on Pro output to an OLED. This is definitely one of the very best games on Pro both as a game overall and as a technical showcase. The gameplay is definitely different from previous games and has a lot of influence from Dark Souls, which I love, including a noticeable increase in difficulty. I just tried the most difficult boss in the game a few days ago, and I got crushed. The game is somewhat open to exploration. Much of the environments are still elaborately disguised corridors or small open playable areas, but it's not completely linear like previous GoW games tended to be. It's less open than a Souls game but does let you go to various areas to explore at your leisure. This game will win quite a few awards.
Finished Resident Evil VII yesterday. It was brilliant and the best the series has been since 4. Being FPS worked really well and the series actually felt creepy once again. Looking forward to 8 now as well as a hopeful remake 2 showing this year at E3 if it still exists.
Quantum Break I'd give the movie part a 7/10 and the game part a 5/10. It felt like it went on for too long and I was forcing myself to play to see the ending.
I thought the gameplay part of Quantum Break was alright, but i was not a fan of sitting through boring 30 minute long TV episodes with D-list actors rambling on about shit i don't care about when I just want to play a game and shoot something.. The gameplay was basically Max Payne with more time abilities. The controls were clunky as hell though. And some of those time abilities were pretty useless. I guess I'd give the game a 6/10. It was alright. Not good or great.
Beyond: Two Souls. Was not sure on this at first but the further I got the better it got. Few cringy parts in it like delivering a baby but I really enjoyed the game and it looked good. Detroit: being Human should be decent then since they are 3/4 for me so far with their games.(Fahrenheit/Heavy Rain/ Beyond)
Completed these: Heavy Rain PS4 version - watched my wife play through this one, enjoyable from start to end, the game runs so much better on PS4 than on PS3 Call of Duty WW2 - it's what you'd expect from a CoD game set in WW2. There was a stealth mission that I enjoyed greatly and overall I had fun with the variety, it felt pretty epic.
A couple more reviews from me: RiME - very neat adventure game, played this on Xbox very recently. If you liked Journey, Shadow of the Collosus, ICO, Zelda, you'll like this game. Quantum Break - stunning graphics and physics effects (possibly the best graphics I've ever seen in a game). Story is pretty good, but not incredible. The topic and science the game explores kept me interested enough to play through it twice. Not super long, takes maybe 10 hours to beat? I really liked the movies/show part as I'm a big fan of the actors. Horizon Zero Dawn - I watched my wife play through most of this one, she loved the game from beginning to end. I think she got near 100% completion of everything, so there was a lot of hours put into this game (like 80 hours to do everything?). There's times where it feels a bit repetitive/grindy, but the world is super interesting and the presentation/graphics is stunning.
Agents of Mayhem I remember being super excited about this game many years ago but when it came out the reviews were just meh so I didn't get it. Someone reminded me of it awhile back so I bought for cheap. The game isn't just meh, it's super meh. I played it longer than I expected because it had some decent material and was kind of fun but it was lacking in most places. Like the game only has 1 map for an enemy base and you play it about 50 times. Someone said this game would have made a great 80s Gi-Joe game and I'd have to agree. In fact I'm pretty sure they copied some ideas from the show. 6/10
Subnautica Absolutely brilliant game. Really immersive, sometimes terrifying environments. Great music that fit the mood. Frightening sea creatures. Fun base building. And the ending felt like something you really had to earn. I'm done with the story, but it's such a fun sandbox I'll probably continue to play it for awhile. This was one of the most immersive games I've played in a long time. 9/10 I'd give it a 9.5 or maybe even a 10 if not for the animation glitches and slowdown. It's also a bit too grindy at times.
Recently completed these: A Way Out - played this one split-screen with my wife, I would say fantastic game from start to end. Gameplay is very varied, the story kept me interested and the graphics and action direction was very well done, almost like a high budget Holywood movie. If you get this game, you can have a friend play co-op with you without buying the game. 9/10 Red Dead Redemption 2 - I think a lot has been said about this game, so you've probably heard it all. One of the best games me and my wife have played in recent years. 10/10 ABZU - interesting adventure game in a similar vein to Journey. I watched my wife play this one and I think we beat it in 1 evening, so it's not super long, but it was enjoyable throughout. 9/10
Resident Evil 2: Remake Leon and Claire 2nd run. Have to play both(Can do Claire and Leon 2nd run as well) to get both stories, both extra places and the true end bosses and ending. Such a brilliant game and I really hope Capgod does Resident Evil 3 next.
