Last Game You Completed?

  1. PS4 mate. Must look even nicer on PC.

  2. I completed Days Gone, defeated all the hordes, and got the platinum trophy yesterday. I'll probably do another run on the higher difficulty setting when the DLC is released.

It was a very good game overall. I'd give it 8/10. I didn't play it prior to patch 1.05, so I didn't get most of the frame rate problems and bugs that were present in the first few days following release. The main culprit for slowdowns for me was fog and weather effects in the last area in the game, especially at night, which has been the case for other games as well. The only bugs I encountered tended to be minor like a gas can not spawning at a checkpoint, which was fixed by restarting. I enjoyed the subtle references to Sons of Anarchy. Even the title "Days Gone" is from the song "Day is Gone" from Season 6 of Sons of Anarchy. It's remarkable a 130-something crew were able to make a game so massive and detailed. I've heard Bend will be expanding and growing, so the next game might be less of a struggle. One of the unlockable weapons related to a previous Bend series was a very nice surprise. The extra wrap-up missions and "surprise" ending were also nice touches and strongly suggest a sequel is in planning.

  3. Days Gone and What Remains of Edith Finch. Got the platinum for Days Gone as well.

  4. What did you think of What Remains of Edith Finch? I enjoyed it.

  5. I completed my Survival difficulty run of Days Gone. I have the platinum and all trophies except the DLC challenges. There is a lot of speculation about a new region discovered by players. It could be an area added in an expansion in the future. I've really enjoyed exploring this game world.

  6. I finished Assassins Creed Origins...barely. It was like most other AC games. It starts with a beautiful world and interesting characters but later turns into a repetitive snore-fest with a weak story. 7/10.

    Fallout New Vegas

Not bad, but definitely not as good as 3 or 4. It has more dialogue options and some of the writing is better, especially with some of the companion backstories. The quests often intertwine in interesting ways. Mr House is a cool character based on Howard Hughes and voiced by Odo from Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

Unfortunately it has a game world that is very boring to explore. It's mostly empty desert, and when you do finally get to Las Vegas, there isn't much there. The enemies are pretty boring in this one too.

People in the online Fallout community talk about how this had deep role playing. I don't know about that. I very quickly ended up with a massively overpowered jack of all trades character just like in the other two games. And moral ambiguity? Again I don't know about that. They definitely tried for it by giving the factions complex backstories and motivations, but the NCR is the only main faction that isn't cartoonishly evil.

Overall it was alright. It was more Fallout. Just don't play this expecting anything on the level of 3 or 4. It's more like a really long FO3 DLC done by a different developer.

    7/10

  8. It might deserve at least an extra half point for its contributions of material for prank calls.

  9. If I remember right, New Vegas had a few parts that were better than the previous games, but over all it was a bit worse for the reasons you mentioned.

    @AKS

I was torn between giving it a 6 for the dull game world and boring enemies, and a 7 because the dialogue, characters, and storytelling were strong in parts. A 6.5 is kinda harsh so maybe I should bump it up to a 7. I'm never sure how to rate games that have weak gameplay but strong storytelling.

My ideal Fallout game would have Obsidian doing the writing and Bethesda handling the gameplay and world building.

  11. I'm done with Assassins Creed Odyssey. I suppose it might be the best of the series but that is mostly do to the great graphics and huge open world. The story was very weak and maybe 10% of the entire game's content. The other 90%was just repetitive quest and killing everything in sight. It was fun but nothing interesting ever happened. There was never a, "I'm going to remember that" moment. 7/10.

  12. Metro Exodus

Taking the game above ground worked out pretty well. In a lot of ways this game felt like it could have been Half Life 2: Episode 3. Episode 2 ended on a train and Exodus started on a train. 8/10

  13. How did Metro Exodus run for you? The benchmarks look kind of brutal. I’m thinking it would eat my 1070 for breakfast.

  14. This game was my excuse for the upgrade but I think you'd be fine. I was getting about 80 fps in OC mode and 65 fps in silent mode. That's a little higher than online benchmarks and I'm not sure why. Maybe the drivers have improved since the game came out. I set the graphics to ultra and never messed with it. Hairworks and Physx were off by default. I bet the 1070 would get 40 to 50fps on Ultra.

  15. Gears of War 5

Pretty generic on the rails shooter. Not bad but not great. 6/10.

  16. The Outer Worlds

It was like Mass Effect and Borderlands had a baby and named it Fallout. Fun at first but I wouldn't buy the sequel. 6/10

  17. I just let my 6 year old son play through Portal. He is really upset that Glados lied to him.

  18. Borderland: The Pre Sequal

Quite a crap game, you can tell it was farmed out to another team. I mean, they didn't even use the word Midget once in the entire thing. Did learn lots of lore though.

    1.6/10

  19. Try Tales from the Borderland. It's a point'n'click adventure but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

  20. Divinity: Original Sin II Definitive Edition

I struggled to finish the last 3rd as the game sort of runs out of steam by then. All together, I like it a lot more than the first. 8/10
