I think there are six installments in the original Lone Wolf/Cub film series, and I know I've seen one of the later ones in the past...can't remember which though.
Soylent Green Easily one of the most effective low-budget science fiction films ever made. And the genius of using the same nature footage during the ending credit roll that appeared earlier in the film during Sol Roth's state assisted suicide...so great. The audience is just as doomed as Roth.
I love the grindhouse style trailer for Soylent Green. Haven't seen it, but I think everyone is well aware of the big twist.
Bunch of mediocre Netflix junk... the true quality that netflix streams is such crap. I swear I'm canceling it this time. Anybody know if Amazon is any better?? Just finished Dr. Horrible's sing along blog. Pretty good... the first time I watched it, 3 years ago :x. Anyway it was there so... I'd add that to the list of decent waste of times on Netflix, since it's fully stream-able and only 45 minutes. Most MTV movies are awesome, and Angus was awesome on Netflix. Other than that it's a sea of mediocrity... other than the classic stuff we've all seen like Dumb and Dumber. I was talking about a movie earlier, action flic, lots of stars. Expendables. I just returned it. I know it cuz it's got Stallone, Willis, Schwarzanegger, Stone Cold, Booker T (think it was him), Randy Couture... Just a crazy list of celebs... but no hot chicks No seriously not even an unknown girl next door. It's like they went out of their way to find butt ugly dikes WTF?
I was really unimpressed with Netflix streaming when I tried it at my brother's house. It's all crap movies. I don't think anything on there has above a 7/10 on IMDB. I'll stick to bittorrent.
yep if quality is the same on Amazon than I'll have ta pass... at least you do get free shipping (on Amazon purchases) there though...
Well I didn't think the quality was too bad on either. Amazon might have been a little better but I believe they are both slightly under DVD quality with 2.0 sound. They aren't going to match the 1080p and surround sound of a Blu-ray.
Movies kind of suck but they have some TV series that are good. Weeds, Firefly, Doctor Who, IT Crowd, Arrested Development, Californication, X-Files, LOST, Dexter, Rescue Me, Futurama, Buffy, The Office, MythBusters. Some of these come and go over time.
The first Blu-ray I ever bought, when I got my PS3 almost two years ago, was UP. It was on sale and there was a coupon off of Disney's website, I ended up paying $6 for the BD/DVD combo. Two years later, I finally took it out of its shinkwrap. It was just okay. The beginning was very sad, the funny moments were great, but most of it was below what I expect from Pixar as far as plot and scripting. I probably will never watch it again just because its forgettable.
I like Netflix for asian/ foreign films Ip man was an excellant film based around the Japanese occupation of China. I probably shouldn't of watched it as it just feeds on my Japanese hatred lol.
@Phisix ---spoilers---- I liked the crazies. Seemed more realistic about how a zombie scenario would play out than most zombie movies I've seen, and I especially liked the tactical nuke at the end.
Agreed. They were not a bunch of brainless flesh eating monsters, but brainless humans with a desire to kill. Shame about the ending though. Sadly we wont see a sequel I would bet.
I highly doubt it would've received a sequel in any case. It was a remake of the George Romero classic under the same name. One of the best Romero movie remakes so far.
