Last movie you saw?

  1. It Follows

Low budget horror that got great reviews and was praised for being a bit different. I went into it knowing nothing, which I think helped somewhat. I enjoyed it; a little bit slow at times but it worked in the films favour. Probably more creepy and unsettling than gore or jump scares. Recommended.

  2. The Man From Uncle

The most boring spy movie since Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. It tries way too hard to be stylish. I felt like I was watching a two hour long commercial for a new fragrance for men.

    3/10

    Jurassic World

I loved it. I actually thought it was better than the original Jurassic Park. Great action scenes. Nice and gory and suspenseful. Chris Pratt was great in his part. I can see why this was the biggest movie of the summer.

    9/10

  3. I was completely dissatisfied with It Follows. It was cool at the beginning and I liked the 70's horror theme music it used, the kids ended up being completely stupid. I'm always cool with ambiguous endings but It Follows just did it in the worst way.

  4. I also saw Jurassic World again... liked it better than 2nd time. The original is a childhood favorite and I still give it an edge, but this was solid entertainment. Was never bored during the whole 2.5 hour run time. Think I had too high expectations the first time around.

    Bump to a 8/10

    Everest
A true story about rich people doing crazy stupid shit and getting owned. The story was pretty engaging and I was entertained. I just had had little sympathy for these idiots. Also, able to confirm that Kiera Knightley is a terrible terrible actress.
    7/10

    Final Girl
The best way to sum this movie up is WTF? It wasn't good... it wasn't bad... it just was.
    5/10.

    Pixels
I like Adam Sandler movies. Fuck you all.
    6.5/10.

  5. Pixels was ass. Sandler had this look of defeat through the whole movie.

  6. I nearly watched Blade Runner for the first time a couple of nights ago... nearly.

  7. It's a movie for thinking people, not dudebros. You wouldn't like it anyway. You would have just complained about the lack of baysplosions and constant danger music. Transformers seems like a good movie series for you.

  8. Enhance... Enhance.. Enhance...

  9. My favorite part is when he jumps off the dam and then Will Smith is like "I don't care that you killed your wife" and starts shooting his laser pistol at the robots.

  10. National Lampoon's Vacation Remake

I had low expectations but it was actually pretty funny. Chevy Chase looks like he's about two baconators or one KFC double down away from a massive heart attack.

    6/10

  11. No Escape

Better than I thought it would be. Pretty action packed and suspenseful once it gets going.

    7/10

  12. a bit more info on what cmdr watched since this wasn't your average plot line. it started Owen Wilson who plays a dude who works for a water company in the US and has to relocate with his family to an obscure country in southeast Asia since his company won a contract there. unfortunately for him, he happens to show up there the same time the country's government is overthrown by a coup.

they keep it somewhat obscure by never saying the country's name I guess for the production studio not to anger foreign relations, but it honestly has to be Cambodia since they mention that it borders Vietnam. so just imagine Owen Wilson and family trying to escape the khmer rouge for an hour and you get No Escape.

it was a fun movie to watch with a really high body count.

  13. Yeah, the coup depicted strongly resembles the rise of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, with foreigners and the intelligentsia being targeted by machete and AK-47 wielding angry mobs. And we know that the country in question borders Vietnam.

The film is actually banned in Cambodia. I guess they're still pretty sensitive about that dark chapter in their history.

  14. The Purge and The Purge Anarchy

The second movie makes better use of what's actually a pretty clever premise. The first movie is okay, but it turns into an average home invasion horror movie. I guess I liked the premise more than the actual execution of the movies. I feel like there's probably a better movie to be made out of this idea.

    6/10

    Ant-man

I had low expectations, but it was actually pretty good. A good mix of comedy and action. The scenes where ant-man is miniature are pretty cool.

    8/10

    Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation

A couple of decent stunts that are shown in the trailer. Nonsensical and boring story with dumb twists that does a poor job of tying the stunts together into anything cohesive. It ends up just feeling like a cheesy Tom Cruise vanity project. Who even knows or cares what's going on in these Mission Impossible sequels anyway? Like why is he hanging onto the side of a plane, and should I even care? I didn't even think the first one from the 90s was all that good, but Tom Cruise keeps farting a new one out every few years.

I think Tom Cruise's plastic surgery is starting to fail. His face looks really leathery now. He looks like a leather muppet. When he was hanging onto the side of the plane, I was afraid his mask-like face was going to peel off.

    4/10

  15. The Peanuts Movie

I'm glad they didn't make it an exact clone of the old sadistic Charlie Brown cartoons. They managed to keep the old theme but give it a modern spin that doesn't end with Charlie bringing a gun to school. It was nostalgic but not too interesting.

  16. Mission Impossible 5 - Rogue Nation

Solid action/adventure movie. Lots of comedy too, thanks to Benji taking a major role this time. The story is almost as convoluted as the first MI, but it's just an excuse to string together enjoyable sequences across the globe. Better than the recent Bond movies, which are pretty boring in comparison.

Oddly, Tom Cruise sometimes looked really young while other times really old. Not sure what was going on with that.

    8.5/10

    Terminator 5: Genesis

Was forced into watching this.... it was not as bad as I expected. Arnold was awesome, the others felt miscast. Overall, it's actually enjoyable as mindless entertainment. Put the slightest bit of thought into it and you'll go full retard quickly. Lots of references to previous films, some in your face but some subtle as well.

    6.5/10

  17. Batman: the Dark Knight Returns Part I

Good but not the best DC has.

    Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox

Now this is one of the better DC movies.

    The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

I like it. It's kind of like the old bond movies.

  18. Crimson Peak

This movie was weird. The costumes and sets were absolutely top notch, some of the best I've ever seen. The haunted house looks amazing. But the CGI for the ghosts looked really cheap and bad. Live actors for the ghosts would have been far more effective. It also had pacing problems and didn't really get interesting or suspenseful until much later in the movie. The first 30 minutes of the movie are a snoozefest. I didn't hate it, but I came away feeling like it had the potential to be much better than it was.

    5/10

  19. I'm going attempt to watch Adam Sandlers new film the ridiculous six in a bit. Wish me luck.

  20. Terminator Genisys

Actually better than I expected. The only bad thing was how they kept failing to explain why another movie was made. Seriously, why does everyone have a time machine? 7/10

    Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

Pretty good movie. I guess Apocalypse is the one guy that can beat up Superman. 7/10

    Rush

The good reviews made me watch it and I'm glad I did. 7/10

    Batman: Assault on Arkum

It stars Batman but it's more of a Suicide Squad movie. 8/10
