  4. The Martian

The movie seemed really long and went from good to meh back to good several times. Final Score 8/10

  5. Krampus

Saw it Christmas Day... pretty run of the mill as far as horror-comedies go. The Christmas theme and fantasy violence against children made it unique. It's PG-13 and could've been better as a R rated film. Still managed to pull a 7/10 on IMDB

    4/10

  6. Joy

It's a movie about a woman who sells mops on QVC. It was boring but my wife seemed to like it.

    4/10

  7. The Martian

Great film. A space adventure with some basis in real science similar to Gravity. Tied with Mad Max Fury Road for best film of 2015 IMO.

    9/10

  8. Everest

Some rich posers pay expensive guides to help them climb Everest, and get horribly pwned when the weather doesn't cooperate. It was pretty entertaining.

    7/10

  9. Does Time Exist as We think

Just one of those mind bending documentaries that explains why the flow of time might only be an illusion.

  10. Not sure I buy the Interstellar-esq time travel they passed off. Human physiology doesn't change based on observers time. You're probably going to age and die on that spaceship relative to an average human life cycle as measured in earth years. Orbiting a black hole that may only be days.

Overall I liked it. This stuff is cool but also depressing to me... it basically highlights how insignificant we are, and we'll die without knowing so much. You should look up Dr. Quantum too.

  11. Hell yeah it's depressing. Before that I watched Consciousness: The Ghost in the Machine and it was even worse. It basically says that all life except humans, chimps and whales, are soulless robots that only appear to have consciousness. So when my dog wags his tail at me it's only an evolutionary mechanical response with nothing behind it. Also aliens might punish us for killing so many whales.

I need to stop watching documentaries.

  12. I think it depends on the dog. I've encountered some pretty stupid dogs (shi tzus are really dumb), and others with intelligence on par with human children, border collies, German shepherds, and corgis for instance. I've seen smarter dogs who seem to recognize their own reflections, which indicates some degree of self awareness. My German shepherd growing up knew how to use door handles and could open her crate. She could also open cabinets in the kitchen. She could open the door to let herself outside. If we are saying dogs are not sentient, we are also saying human children are not sentient.

  13. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Dogs don't have consciousness?

  14. Why whales?

  15. Because V'ger.

  16. did a quick search. seems the documentary and theory behind it are quite old.

  17. Honey badgers are some of the most intelligent animals on the planet. They're so fierce though, no one has done a great job of studying them. I have a hard time believing that an animal that breaks in a guys house, raids his fridge, and then taunts him about it is just some empty robotic shell. That being said, honey badgers seem like nature's dickheads.

  18. Purge 2

Better than the first... the main guy was a believable badass. The premise is an decent excuse to setup different survival horror scenarios, wouldn't mind a Purge 3 in remote mountainside or some such.

  19. it's called hunger games

  20. Dinosaur 13

Another documentary about the 13th and most complete T-Rex fossil ever found for it's time. I vaguely remember hearing about it on the news in the 90s. The Government, Indian reservation, landowner, and fossil hunters all fought over who really owned it. In the end I didn't even really know who was wronged or righted.

    The Good Dinosaur

It had some of the best looking animation I've see yet but the story didn't do much for me. 5/10
