Last movie you saw?

  1. Skiptrace

Jackie Chan + Johnny Knoxville. That alone made me think this was made just for me. Never crossed my mind it could be anything less than great. The base premise is OK, but it's really haphazardly edited. Continuity, flow, and pacing are all over the place. It seemed like both actors didn't even want to be there, and their chemistry wasn't nearly as good as Chan/Tucker. Kinda weird, because I like them both on their own. The jokes were a miss and most of the stunts/fights were a miss too. So disappointed with what could have been greatness. It wasn't even a rental, I actually paid full price to buy the movie LOL.

    4/10

  2. A majority of movies that are mainly chinese produced that are marketed towards a western audience are pretty freakin horrible. Once you figure that part out, it helps you weed out some movies on your to watch list. Also, look at the director's history, Renny Harlin.

Jackie's other movie, Dragon Blade, was a little better but was a total cheesefest too.

It has been a while since I've seen a decent movie from him. I'd say the last one was Police Story 2013.

With that said, I have mixed feelings about that new movie The Great Wall.

  3. Moana

    One of Disney's best. 9/10.

And the the Rock can sing.

  4. Unfriended

Trailer looked like it belonged in the worst movies of all time thread. But it was actually a decent suspense thriller. It wasn't really a horror movie as there is no scares or gore. It's a combo of The Invitation and Would You Rather. If you enjoyed those, this is a good watch.

    6/10

  5. This one looks good.

    Jason Bourne

Really boring. Annoying shaky cam. Tiresome chase scenes. I fell asleep several times.

    Sully

This movie was very boring. Even the crash scenes were boring. As a character study it was shallow and I didn't feel like I came away knowing anything more about Captain Sully. Part of the problem may be that Tom Hanks is just a mediocre actor. Portraying the NTSB as villains out to destroy an American hero was weird. The NTSB didn't actually do anything like that to Captain Sully in real life. It seemed like Clint Eastwood was just venting his hatred for the government. Eastwood is off his rocker lately.

Flight was a very similar (albeit fictional) but way better movie with an Oscar caliber performance from Denzel.

  7. Arrival

It wasn't bad. But it wasn't good either. Without any spoilers... the reveal is telegraphed early and easy to guess. Which in turn dilutes any 'wow' factor. It's worth the watch on TV as a good Chris Nolan knockoff.

    6/10

On another note. I saw shit load of upcoming trailers which all sucked. 2017 movies are going to be so bad that the Baywatch trailer looked decent.

I'll watch Baywatch just for Alexandra Daddario. Her boobs and eyes are out of this world. She's a goddess.

    Dr Strange

Dr strange was always an unusual Marvel character. I think they did a good job with him. 8/10

  10. Arrival

Best movie of the year. 9.5/10

  11. I found it annoying that Cumberbatch was using an American accent, I hate forced accents whether it is British trying to be American or the other way around. It wasn't a bad film actually.

Debating whether or not to see Rogue One before or after Xmas.

  12. The worst was when I watched Spy. Jason Statham is in it and speaks with an English accent but he pronounces twat the American way.

Jude law also had the worst American accent I've ever heard.

  13. The Accountant

Normally can't stand Douchefleck, but this was a legitimately good action movie.

    7.5/10

  14. Trolls

It was weird in both a good way and a bad way. The colors were fun. 23.5/30

  15. Keanu

I don't know why I forced myself to sit through it but I did. It starts off pretty bad and then progresses to slightly entertaining by the end. 5/10

  16. I like some Key and Peele skits, but Keanu was pretty bad. The first time it was on, I fell asleep. The second time I stayed awake, but it only had a few funny parts. Most of it was just dumb and bad.

  17. It reminded me of the Blues Brothers with a side of No Country for Old Men. One brother gets out of jail. Both brothers go on a crime spree to save the place where they both grew up and hated. Jeff Bridges was great but I preferred Tommy Lee Jones in No Country for Old Men. He does hopelessness so well. I'm going to say 7/10 because there were a few boring stretches.

    Mechanic 2 Resurrection

A dumb Jason Statham punching people movie. It had its entertaining moments, like the part where Statham murders a guy by cracking the glass on his skyscraper infinity pool, sending him plummeting to a messy death on the pavement below. But it was mostly just dumb. Jessica Alba is still as hot as ever, even after having two kids, but her acting is so bad. You could see where the budget ran out. The CGI gets very bad towards the end.

  19. Did you see the first one from 2011? It was a pretty terrible Baysplosion remake. One of the only times I found an out of date original (1972) better. Mainly because it had Charles "Death Wish" Bronson and the guy from Airwolf. Kinda surprised alterego didn't chime in about it, he probably owns it on vinyl video.
