Last movie you saw?

  1. Basically, people who criticize Nolan movies should be put in the electric chair.

  2. I didn't wasn't to see it because I'd read so many reviews saying it was just two hours of people standing on the beach doing nothing. I mean they weren't wrong but it was a bit more than that.

  3. It was people stuck on a beach getting blown up by Nazis. Anyone who thought it was boring is a moron.

  4. Jumanji

It was pretty entertaining. Kevin Hart and The Rock work well together.

    Downsizing

It takes an interesting premise and does almost nothing with it. The movie gets more and more boring as it goes.

  5. you forgot to mention karen gillan's body was the best part of the movie

  6. I saw that movie with the talking monkeys and the guy from Cheers. The ending was stupid.

  7. Paddington 2

Cute movie. My son seemed to enjoy it.

  8. American Made

Tom Cruise may be crazy, but he still makes good movies. This was about a pilot who runs drugs and guns for the CIA in the 80s. It was pretty entertaining.

    7/10

  9. American Made was one of the best movies I've seen all year. How it intertwined with the whos-who of American politicians was amazing. The call to the state prosecutor from the Governor, at that time, would've been Bill Clinton. The guy who speaks to him at the WH waiting room was George Bush (41). I kinda expected that movie could only end the way it did, but goddamn that guy lived a life.

    I'd give it a slightly higher 8.5/10.

What I find fascinating about that time period is how government agencies were clueless about what other government agencies were doing. The CIA was running drugs for the cartels to fund the Contras, and at the same time the DEA was trying to shut down the cartels. The result was the craziness you have in this movie where a guy is working for one part of the government while trying to evade another part of the government.

  11. Blade Runner 2049

It was a beautiful yet confusing SciFi movie. I'd watch it again just for the visuals. 9/10

    The House

I like many of Will Ferrell's movies but this one was really shit. 2/10

    Darkest Hour

I'm glad this came out because I've always wanted to know more about Winston Churchill. I think some may find it boring but it was good. If you liked the Kings Speech you'd probably like this. 6/10

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

It was entertaining. They took a classic tale and blew it up with special affects. 6/10

  12. 2049 still never tells us if Deckard is a replicant. I still think he might be. Why would Wallace want to take him off-world otherwise? We know that replicants are manufactured off-world. It seemed like Wallace wanted to study him.

It's a beautiful movie, and it advances the story from Blade Runner, but it still leaves a lot of unanswered questions.

  13. I watch so many films but I always forget to post, lets change that with this weekends watchings.

    Cult of Chucky

Probably the best Chucky movie for a long time, perhaps ever as the old ones haven't aged well. I felt Curse was OK but this one was just a better film. The only thing that let it down was that Andy felt so pointless and shoe-horned in for the sake of it. Also can't get over how much Fiona Dourif looks like her dad. 8/10

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

I found this to be quite entertaining, not as good as an 80s action flick of course but entertaining enough that you won't get bored. It didn't do too well though so don't think it is going to get any kind of sequal and I think they were planning this one to be a new series of films. 7/10

    47 Meters Down

The sisters were quite annoying, its your typical story of one adventurous sister and another more reserved who gets talked into doing something by the first. You could call what was going to happen all the way through the film, nothing came as a surprise, even the ending. Pretty funny to laugh at the CGI sharks though so 5/10.

    Within

Horror film, people move into a new house, spooky things go on and then they find out someone was murdered in the house xx years ago. Typical horror film these days but not a bad one per se, shame about the clichéd plot and the twists are so easy to spot coming. 6/10

I also caught the end of The Wicker Man remake on Sunday so got to see Nic battle the CGI bees in his helmet with those iconic lines of dialogue that will go down in cinema history.

  14. Ready Player One

It was quite a bit different than the book, and it felt rushed, but Spielberg still does a good job. 8/10

  15. Sherlock Gnomes

It had potential but it was mostly boring. 3/10

  16. Geostorm

This movie was all kinds of stupid. 5/10

  17. I watched some more films at the weekend, here are the results.

    Let her out

I think this one is classed as a horror movie but there wasn't that much horror in it, some people died and someone peeled their skin off. Average affair all round, 4/10

    Spiderman Homecoming

I assumed that at the start of the film we would again see the whole origin story that we got in the last 2 attempts at a spiderman franchise so was happy not to have to sit through that again. Michael Keaton was good and it was nice not to see an over the top bad guy who had a crazy reason for being naughty. I think I quite enjoyed it, score might have been a bit higher if kids were less annoying at times. 7.5/10

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazars Revenge (Dead Men Tell No Tales)

I think it was better than the 4th one but nothing special. I find Depps portrayal of Sparrow to be more and more outragous and stupid with everything film, especially at the start of this one. Kiera and Orlando might as well not have been in it at all but it is easy to see they are setting up a 6th film. If you don't take the film too seriously and just watch it as a light hearted bit of entertainment it isn't too bad as something to do for a couple of hours. 6/10

    Jack Reacher

For some reason I had seen the second one and not the first. As modern action films go it wasn't too bad, at least Tom wasn't doing that annoying smile he did non stop during the crappy Mummy movie. Bit too easy to see what was happening, it left very little mystery and used a lot of cliché's such as the bent copper. 7/10

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

Somehow I managed to miss this when it came out all those years ago. A complete pile of shite with a boring plot, boring bad guy and boring actors. 1/10

    Phantom Thread

It's a slow moving film about a 1950s British fashion designer and his dysfunctional relationship with a young woman. Daniel Day-Lewis is excellent in his role. But it was too slow and dull for my tastes. The twist at the end, that she's been poisoning his food but he apparently still loves her and just lets himself be poisoned, was bizarre. I'm not really sure what to think of this.

    The Greatest Showman

Lots of singing and dancing. Really gay.

    The Commuter

The annual installment in the "Liam Neeson's family is kidnapped and he must run around frantically punching people to get answers" genre of films.

This time Liam Neeson punches people on a train. The plot is preposterous and doesn't even make any sense if you stop for a second to think about it. It reaches critical terribleness with a bad CGI train derailment. This was a bad movie, and it's basically the same movie Liam Neeson has been making for years. And yet, I was entertained.

  20. I enjoyed Liam Neeson punches people on a plane (Non-Stop). I have a feeling I'd also enjoy this but you have to be in a certain mood. Liam Neeson punches people and wolves in the wilderness (The Grey) was one of my favorites.
