Kid 90 Basically the actor that played Punky Brewster, Soleil Moon Frye, video taped her childhood and saved all the footage. I guess carrying a personal video camera around in the 90s was so unusual that no one though much of it and she got some nice candid shots of other 90s kid actors. I sort of of got the feeling that they didn't entirely know what to do with the footage and the documentary is kind of week. Several important events are mentioned about suicide, drugs, and sexual consent, but not covered in great detail. My wife though the whole thing was an attempt to explain why her career tanked after Punky Brewster.
I Care A Lot It starts off strong but the second half of the movie is pretty dumb. A woman who is basically a scammy social worker being able to take on the Russian mob made no sense. They also made her so unlikable that I wanted the mobsters to kill her.
The Last Blockbuster Discusses the rise and fall of Blockbuster, and then talks about one last store that is still hanging on in Bend, Oregon. It has been kept alive mostly by nostalgic tourists. I wonder how long they can keep it going. I don't really have fond memories of Blockbuster. I mostly remember the late fees and lack of selection.
I just watched the snyder cut of JL last night. I agree. nobody should even remember the joss whedon's version. snyder's version is an actual good movie. the additional scenes of the new character were questionable to me though. it felt so out of place. i remember originally watching it in theater and thought the entire final fight was so pointless when superman showed up and just farted and ended the fight. snyder's version actually addressed everything and gave all of the characters the development that they needed. well deserved 8.3 rating on imdb.
There were a few setups for multiple future movies, but I'm assuming you mean Spoiler Martian Manhunter. That scene was intended for a couple of the space cops of the Green Lantern Corps originally, but the studio meddled and Snyder had planned to reveal the character he did use in that scene eventually anyway. This was the third movie that character appeared in but only in JL was his true identity revealed. There was another seemingly minor character in a lab that becomes a superhero. The attractive young woman in the car The Flash saves is also very important for his storyline. Some of the characters were introduced primarily as introductions for future movies with the intention of making several more. That would happen if the WB executives were competent.
yeah those two were introduced pretty seamlessly into the movie so I didn't have any issues with it. MM was just very disjointed though.
There are tons of little things where the studio interfered ways that even affected the Snyder version. They wouldn't let him shoot in Superman's black outfit, so they shot it with the traditional red and blue and then color corrected it to black. That's why they color sometimes isn't quite right. And this scene was supposed to feature different characters but the studio refused to let him use any of the Green Lanterns in that scene. It's hard telling how many things these moron studio executives have fouled up. Imagine where we'd be with the DCEU if Snyder's version of JL made it out to the theaters instead of the Josstice abortion. And these dullards think they've got the great ideas.
lol the DC movies are so bad. Everything in the DC universe since the Nolan Batman movies has sucked nuts. I'm having a really hard time believing you guys that this is actually good.
The improvements are almost all character development and narrative. Not only is it probably the best DCEU movie but it's better than most Marvel movies as well. Here's an example of part of the footage where they give you an overview of Cyborg's powers as essentially a techno-god who can manipulate the markets or nuclear arms at will with just a thought. In a few minutes it captures his extraordinary capabilities, one of the ways he puts that to use, and the harsh reality of how the world views him and assumes him to be a monster to be feared.
you really have to judge for yourself. it's not just us saying it's good. IMDb has Zack Snyder's cut on its own listing and it's sitting at an 8.3 score.
Lol agreed. DC has WAAAY fewer cooler characters. It basically has 3. I just don’t care about most of them. My problem with MCU is it has let star power dictate character screen time. A-List actors play Z-list benchwarmers while B-List actors play the A-list characters. But mostly I have superhero fatigue.
That is a bold statement. But then I remember stuff like Ironman 2. And I keep falling asleep through the Thor movies.
Godzilla vs Kong Just watched it and I liked it. Maybe loved it. The series probably needed another kong movie before this one because they seemed to rush through the plot. But in a movie like this the plot is secondary. They knew where they wanted to end up and relied on trope after trope to get there. But they got there and it’s a lot of fun. This is not the heavy hearted recent Godzilla movies with philosophical musings and sacrifice. I mean there is but it’s sprinkled in. This is a fun super monster action movie and it delivers on the action. The fights really tell a story. Nothing is wasted. Nothing in it should really be a surprise as the movie progresses but it’s fan service HITS and ties up the loose ends. Super fun series conclusion but I hope they make more.
Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman? You'll view The Flash and Cyborg very differently after you watch this version of JL. I think a pretty decent number of people also like Jason Mamoa's version of Aquaman. Every member of the team was vital in Snyder's version of JL.
This is kinda sorta true only if you ignore every villain in DC. I mean the Joker alone has a whole subculture movement thing centered around him. Every girl I saw around Halloween for the last two years was some sort of Harley Quinn variation. Lex Luthor, Braniac, and Darkseid are pretty cool. Flash is a time traveling badass. Arrowverse exists and is successful enough to exist with mostly side characters. Aquaman is pretty dumb for a superhero. I’ll give you that. Just pour bleach in the water and you win. Or sit around in Kansas. It’s like who cares about fish? But let’s be honest. Nobody cared about Thor or Ironman or Black Widow or Loki or Groot before the movies. Nobody cares about the arrow guy still. Nobody cares about Fantastic Four, but maybe Doom is cool. People barely care about the friggin Hulk anymore. Marvel is basically X-men (really, Wolverine) and Spider-Man and ymmv with both. Captain America has decent following. Deadpool is a kick ass character though. The punisher? I guess. DC has 3 god tier characters that marvel cannot top aside from Spider-Man (in popularity). The rest of dc is what marvel already is, neat characters waiting for movies or shows. But why when Superman trash makes a billion dollars? DC has better villains that outshine everyone else pretty much all the time.
New Aquaman is a bit better. He's almost as powerful as Wonder Woman and commands an army of sorts. Speaking of DC, I've seen Superman: Red Son What if Superman had grown up in Communist Russia? Not that great. Batman vs Teenange Mutant Ninja Turtles Okay, so this one sounds stupid, but it wasn't too bad. Also, Batman kind of gets his butt kicked by Shredder and that was cool.
That is very true. Joker and Lex are top tier characters. Also agree with your Marvel picks. Wolverine, Spider-Man and Hulk were the popular ones when I was a kid. Robert Downey made Ironman super cool and popular. Exactly what I meant about A list actors dictating screen time for benchwarmer characters.
