It's the same way I view British comedies. I totally don't understand british humor at all.. but I can't really complain as I'm not british. Just let the hangover take it's run and be done with it. No need to try to understand american humor.
Who needs to understand American humor. If it is funny, it is funny. Take Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob films, those are freaking hilarious with their right in your face style rude comedy.
It's not American humour that I don't get. It's stupid American humour, there's a difference. Things like people falling down or getting hit or predictable stuff.
There's actually no difference. What you just described there is American humor. People here laugh at that stuff.
I'm not really seeing the difference between 'US' humor and 'British' humo(u)r. American humour?? there is no such thing. ANYWAY alls I can find is one has a british accent and the other's american :| one is Seinfeld and the other is Hitchhiker's guide through the galaxy. One is Mike Myers and the other's George Carlin or Eddie Murphy if you prefer something living. It's not the falling ppl laugh at, it's either because it's drunk, stupid or totally random (when your drunk most everything is totally random, the same can be said about stupidity or just plain autism ala Napoleon Dynamite).
Don't confuse slapstick with stupid humour lol. I find most American sitcoms to be stupid. Will and Grace, Everybody Loves Raymond, that fairly recent one with the two fat people, I've never laughed at those shows but people find them funny. Some examples of American comedy I don't find stupid are Friends, The Simpsons, South Park, Frasier, those are funny.
I can usually only watch the pay channel TV shows like Dexter and Weeds. I loved Arrested Development. I do think The Simpsons was very clever and watched it. I occasionally watch South Park. Frasier was decent and usually tolerable. I also thought Jane Leeves was pretty hot. That helped. I thought Friends was downright awful. I don't think I ever watched it for more than 5 or 10 minutes at a time. Can't do it.
I find these American shows funny the rest I think are lame. Venture Bro's The Simpsons South park Family Guy American Dad The Cleaveland Show Friends ( Can be funny at times, yeah) I like Frasier but I only laugh once in a while when I watch that.
You should give It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia a try. It's easily one of the greatest comedy shows of all time. It's a bit like Seinfeld, except it's actually funny. The only other comedies I find funny are South Park and Weeds. The Simpsons was good in the mid to late 90s, but it overstayed its welcome, and now it's just lame. And for the record, I also thought The Hangover was a lame, unfunny, massively overrated turd of a movie. I think I might have chuckled twice the entire time I was watching it. And I'm getting pretty tired of having people from crapass NBC sitcoms and SNL shoved down my throat in every comedy movie that comes out. Seriously, who finds any of these people funny?
Weeds is a comedy?? I mean, sure, it's funny sometimes but not nearly as much as a good sitcom.. It'd be quicker to name the sitcoms I don't like (The Office... I get embarrased just watching that show, the occasional chuckle... but more embarrasement) than it would to name the ones I do (I laugh my A$$ off watching Frasier and Raymond <3) but this isn't the thread for that :/
X-Men First Class The Nazi hunting stuff with Magneto was pretty cool, and I liked the big finale during the Cuban Missile Crisis. But other than that it was pretty much an overlong, boring, unnecessary origin story with lots of lame teen melodrama. Really glad I downloaded an R5 and skipped seeing it in the theater.
