Paprika Supposedly cited by chris nolan as one of the movies that inspired him when he was making inception. anime movie. WTF I said that when the credits started rolling at the end. I said I'd give up on anime after I finished watching End of Evangelion. This movie reminded me why.
Drive This was one of the best crime dramas I've ever seen. It was smart, unique, well written, well acted, suspenseful, stylish, and extremely violent. Highly recommended. Also, it's good to finally see Bryan Cranston getting big roles in films. He's one of the best and most versatile actors out there today as we've seen on Breaking Bad. It's a shame he was wasted on dumb sitcoms for so many years, because he can be amazing when given the chance.
RE: Afterlife What an irony I'm not an RE fan and I saw the first RE movie... and probably one other... but. I know that the first movie had a few places from the first two games and I'm betting this one has some parts from other RE games.... and ofc Chris and Clair Redfield, Wesker and stuff... anyway yeah, this series is probly the best game adaptation since Mario Brothers the Movie! No bonus gamerpoints as they keep killing survivors but. As a movie I just love how the main character (Alice, no not Fear's Alice... but probably much the same) is like a super model and she always finds more super model bad asses and they kick ass like Charlie's Angels. It's just stupid given the gritty atmosphere just... poetic irony.
Insidious I expected nothing out of this, and was pleasantly surprised by one of the best horror movies I've seen in recent years. The only other movie that's scared the shit out of me this badly was The Shining. I thought The Further was a really clever idea.
Unstoppable They basically took the monorail episode of the Simpson's and turned it into a movie that takes itself very very seriously. "It's not a train, it's a missile!" Yeah, it was pretty dumb. 127 Hours It was a good movie, but the premise was kind of thin, and you could tell they were struggling to make an hour and a half movie out of this. And I think most people already know the story of the climber cutting his arm off, so it wasn't really much of a twist.
Salt This was a colossally stupid movie. Angelina Jolie is a horrible actress, and she wasn't even remotely believable as a Russian secret agent.
Orphan It was delightfully trashy up until the big twist near the end, which was so stupid and ridiculous it ruined the movie. It was like they chickened out and decided they didn't really want to make a child that evil, so of course it had to be an adult with dwarfism. Lame.
Horrible Bosses It was a Horrible Movie too... but not as bad as.. Season of the Witch OK I knew this movie would be horrible but... I just had to watch it for some reason. I actually thought it'd be a more theological regarding if the girl was a witch or not, but it wasn't and was just a generic man vs. demon action fluck.
