Let Me In (US remake of Let The Right One In) I haven't seen the original, so I have no point of comparison, but I thought it was quite good. Chloe Moretz is really impressive for such a young actress. Drag Me To Hell Watched it again. I think it works so well because it's a morality tale about a bad person getting what she deserves.
Insidious Watched this for a second time with a bunch of people and it still scared the shit out of me. It's just a damn good horror movie. The acting was perfect, it was extremely suspenseful, the concept of the Further was really unique, and once it got going the pacing was relentless. It's in an elite club of horror movies I've actually found scary, and there aren't many (The Shining, Alien, Rosemary's Baby, Event Horizon).
I thought Insidious was worse than it was meant to be. Not scary at all. The end part with that fire demon had me laughing.
i thought insidious was pretty damn awesome. I watch lots of suspense and horror movies and without a doubt, insidious is easily one of the best in recent years. true that they could've done a different design on darth maul though.
Captain America: First Avenger They got a lot of things right in this movie, but somehow they couldn't manage effective suspense or cliffhangers within the action scenes or storyline. Kind of odd in that respect. It's not dull, but it's not gripping either. Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving (Red Skull), and Toby Jones (Dr. Zola) stole the show. Chris Evans is a bit on the bland side, but was decent as Captain America.
It depends on what you look for in a horror movie. If you like gory slasher flicks, then Insidious is not your movie. If you like suspenseful psychological horror, then you'll probably think Insidious is great.
Halloween Caught this on AMC. It's pretty typical of the dumb slasher flicks I don't find scary. It's aged poorly, the acting and dialogue are horrid, the "scary" parts are unintentionally funny, and the characters all make stupid and unbelievable decisions that end up getting them stabbed.
Just saw Johnny English reborn. It was ok, not particularly humorous but I wasn't expecting it to be. Gillian Andersons English accent wasnt bad considering.
She does a lot of english dramas, she was in that drama about that prostitute, The Crimson Petal and The White. Was your first post a fail on the iphone?
Yep I somehow mashed the send "button". Still, minor error. I'm pretty sure you were able to decipher which film I was on about. It made me chuckle because as soon as I pressed it I thought of Homer when he needed a dialing wand.
Killer Elite The only good part was the unintentional hilarity of Statham doing Chair Jitsu in a movie that claims to be "based on a true story." The action scenes weren't that great, the plot was ridiculous and borderline nonsensical, and Robert Deniro and Clive Owen were totally wasted in their roles. I used to think Statham had the potentinal to be the new Arnie, but he seems to be going down more of a Van Damme or Steven Seagal kind of career path. This movie bombed pretty hard at the box office and was almost straight to video.
Full Metal Jacket Watched this again. Hadn't seen it in years. It's really two movies in one, one good, one bad. R Lee Ermey is awesome in his role and is endlessly quotable. I think it helps that he was an actual Vietnam era Marine drill instructor at Paris Island. He'll have you saying things like "I'm going to gouge out your eyeballs and skull fuck you!" to your friends. The movie does a great job of showing the brutality and dehumanizing effect of military training. As an actual war movie though, it stinks. The second half of the movie in Vietnam is pretty weak. There are much better Vietnam movies.
Meh, I thought the second half was well done, but not as strong as the first. I like the sound and camera work in the latter half a lot. The action in parts is pretty good, but it does fall flat in places. It's still my favourite vietnam war movie, I don't really see the big deal with Apocalypse Now and Platoon.
My drill instructors seem to use Full Metal Jacket as a blueprint to torture me. It's stunningly accurate. I enjoyed the rest of the movie as well.
