The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (English language version) 7/10 I rented this out of curiosity having already seen the original. I think the Swedish language version was superior, but the English language version stands well on its own and has some clear strengths. To my surprise, Rooney Mara ended up being one of the best things about this version. I was already a fan of Noomi Rapace, the original Lisbeth, and I was pleased to see that Mara was also quite good. I preferred the more emotionally detached and a bit more disturbed Rapace, as I think that would fit better with her character's background and history of experiences, but Mara was quite good as well. The collection of accents was rather confusing, as some sounded as British as could be while others spoke with a clear Swedish accent. I guess it's not that important, but usually there's a bit more consistency within a single movie. It was impressive technically as well, although I could have done without that bizarre CGI intro.
The Pirates in an Adventure with Scientists. Took little grim to see it (£25 just to get in, damn the cinema is expensive). Pretty entertaining and very well done like all Aardman stuff.
You're gay aren't you? Green Lantern was the gayest movie I've ever seen. I turned it off half way through, and I almost never do that.
Actually my wife put it on because she thinks Ryan Reynolds is hot. She was also getting angry because he was way too faggy in it. I never wanted to watch it in the first place. We both agreed it was awful and turned it off.
Tango and Cash A delightful piece of 80s action cheese with Stallone and Kurt Russell I somehow missed. It basically ends with an exploding monster truck rally. I don't think there was a plot of any kind.
I just couldn't get into it for some reason. I was never a huge fan of the original Mission Impossible. I thought it was a pretty average spy flick. And this seemed to be largely a retread of that movie.
I recall never really getting into the first 2 either. then I finally got around to watching mi3 in december and thought that was decent so I made sure to catch this one too. I felt mi3 and 4 were superior to the first 2. While I'm in this thread, I also just watched wrath of the titans this weekend which was meh but it did have a full length trailer to the hobbit which gave me an erection. What's funny is that it was the same trailer ichi posted in the hobbit thread, but it was better on the big screen.
Shame It was rated NC-17 so a lot of it bordered on softcore porn. I'm not sure if I believe sex addiction is actually a real thing. Apparently there's some debate in the mental health community about whether it's real. I think men are biologically hardwired to want to fuck every hot piece of ass they see, but some are in more of a position to do so than others. Notice how it's always successful actors, sports stars, and politicians who have this supposed affliction. You will never see a fast food worker with sex addiction.
Hop: It was on over easter so I gave it a go, not that I had much choice as the Wife put it on the living room TV for the child to watch. It was OK as animated films go but Russell Brand's voice did get on my nerves after a while.
Troll Hunter On the scale of stupid I'd give it a 2 out of 5. Basically Blair Witch + Ghost Hunters + Trolls.
The pretentious hipster douchebags over at Somethingawful seem to keep recommending that Troll Hunter movie. I thought it looked terrible. I'm glad I'm not crazy.
