Last movie you saw?

  1. "Theater movie"...you could say that about alot of FX based films, as the experience will be different vs. home viewing. Good films will still be enjoyable at home though, and Tron: Legacy was mostly good. I can take-or-leave the 3D, so that may be part of it.

  2. War of the Worlds

I had forgotten what a turd this movie was. They should have just called it Dakota Fanning Screams for Two Hours.

  3. I actually enjoyed that film, apart from that little bitch. If I was Tom Cruise I would have slapped her or chucked her out that house to get sucked up by the Iphone tripods.

  4. No Strings Attached

Totally generic romcom. You could tell Natalie Portman didn't give a crap and was just in it for a paycheck. She deadpanned through the whole movie. Ashton Kutcher couldn't act his way out of a nutsack.

  5. xXx: State of the Union

For the most part it was Garbage.

    Right now I'm watching

X Files: I Want to Believe

It's actually better the second time through. It doesn't crush my high expectations.

  6. You know it's bad when they couldn't even get Vin Diesel.

  7. Surrogates

This was a seriously retarded movie. Minus the special effects, it was about on the level of something you would see on MST3K.

  8. Have you ever seen a film you liked?

  9. I've enjoyed plenty of movies. Here's a short list.

The Godfather Parts 1 and 2
    Taxi Driver
    Pulp Fiction
Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back
    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    Fight Club
    American History X
    The Shawshank Redemption
    Apocalypse Now
    Requiem for a Dream
    Leon: The Professional
    Scarface
    Goodfellas
    Alien and Aliens
    Terminator 2 Judgement Day
    The Shining
    Unforgiven
    Die Hard
    Das Boot
    The Lives of Others
    Inglourious Basterds

There are some great movies, but the vast majority of movies are shit. Hollywood is a gigantic crap factory just like network TV.

  10. Sucked.

  11. It's on the IMDB Top 250 at #38 between Citizen Kane and North by Northwest, has an 82% on Rottentomatoes, and got Edward Norton on Oscar nomination, so you're wrong. American History X is undeniably one of the greatest movies of all time. But your taste is already suspect since you liked that crappy X-Files movie and you've never seen Commando.

  12. Tron: Legacy

Love live the users, long live Blu-ray 3D!!!

  13. Sucker Punch - Every bit the train wreck the reviews make it out to be and more besides.

It looks cool and the girls in it are hot as hell but it's a massive turd of a movie. I saw it at the IMAX last night; there were six people in the theatre. It's going to be a blight on Zak Snyders record for sure...

  14. The International

Good movie but it was a bit complicated. I had a lot of distractions while watching it so it was hard to follow.

  15. I got a huge hard on for Naomi Watts so I really liked it.

  16. The One Percent

It's a documentary directed by an heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune, who interviews some of the world's weathiest people and individuals around them. It was interesting to see the level of paranoia, fear, and secrecy demonstrated by the extremely wealthy. I'm actually friends with a relative of one of the wealthiest people in the world (who is extremely reclusive, BTW) and was very aware of this documentary prior to seeing it. There is an interesting and peculiar dynamic within many of these families of secrecy, fear, and control. It's not the most impressively constructed documentary out there, but it's still worth watching for the content. Most would struggle to gain access to some of the people the director interviews.

  17. @AKS

People need to wake up to the fact that the US isn't a real democracy. It's a plutocracy run by a handful of disgustingly wealthy, cartoonishly evil people.

  18. Many are, unfortunately. The disgustingly rich relative of one of my friends (I'm not going to disclose the name, but you'd definitely know this person) is among the least evil of the disgustingly wealthy (NOT one of the Koch brothers, obviously), but he certainly has had bizarre issues of his own within his family. He's an eccentric individual to be sure.

It is interesting how tremendously wealthy individuals seem to preside over and control the rest of their families in many cases. The other members of the family seem compelled to obey for fear of being disowned and cut off.

  19. Forbidden Planet

I think I appreciate this film more than the last time I saw it 6-7 years ago. It's just such a cool looking alien world and civilization, despite the fact that it was produced over 50 years ago. And the concept behind the storyline is quite unique and powerful, really. Picked this one up on Amazon as part of a 4 film double disc set for $11.99...Forbidden Planet, Soylent Green, The Time Machine, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Transfers are good too for a bargain set.

  20. The Exorcism of Emily Rose

The actual exorcism scenes were well done. Unfortunately, it was interspersed with some really boring, generic court drama that killed the movie.
