Say what you will, but Duncan McCloud was the star of that series. I like the tv show and Highlander End Game better than any of the Christopher Lamburt ones. I will stand by this till the end of days, or next month.
I kind of like how they have a French guy playing a Scottish guy, and a Scottish guy playing a Spaniard. Because that makes sense.
Lincoln Daniel Day-Lewis was simply amazing in this great film. There were several points in the movie where I felt like crying and I'm not even sure why. This movie might be too long for some or too political for others but I think it's the best movie I've seen in a long time. Lincoln is my new favorite superhero.
Yeah but Lincoln didn't have sword fights or a kickass Queen soundtrack, so therefore it can't be as good as Highlander.
DDL is amazing in every movie. Spielberg has been on a series of misses and has been demoted to hack status after Indy4. I will probably catch this on rental.
Sleepy Eyes of Death 1: The Chinese Jade It's the first film in a series of classic Japanese swordsman flicks, where the hero is a nihilistic wanderer who knows a deadly sword technique called the Full-Moon Cut. However, there actually isn't as much of an emphasis on the violence as in things like Lone Wolf and Cub. I would generally rate this first one as good, but not great, with an ending that has some effective twists. The cinematography is excellent, and the acting style is more subtle than is typical for the genre.
I just returned from watching Lincoln. I knew it was from Spielberg, so I was fearful that it would be too sappy for me to enjoy, but it didn't reach Ron Howard levels of cheesy manipulation thankfully. Day-Lewis was terrific; business as usual for him. I was impressed with the cast. Many are not huge names but people I recognized and knew were good actors (John Hawkes, for example, although I guess he's probably becoming more well known since Winter's Bone). I also recognized actors from Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and Sons of Anarchy. I was glad that they picked an crucial portion of Lincoln's life rather than trying to cover birth through death. I'm glad I watched it.
The Dark Knight Rises It was a great movie, but it was way, way too fucking long. They could have shaved an hour off the running time in editing and I don't think it would have lost much. I've never thought much of Anne Hathaway as an actress, but she was surprisingly good as catwoman. Bain was a great villain, and you could sympathize somewhat with his revolution against the rich. I loved the bat plane. All around a pretty awesome movie, but the running time of three hours was just too much for a superhero movie. 9/10
Breaking Dawn Part 2 First there were vampires and that was cool. Then there were werewolf's and that was cool. There there were vampires fighting werewolf's and that was really cool.
I watched Silent Hill Revelations. It was spectacularly awful. The love interest aspect was contrived and awful. Pyramid head coming back to work as a merry go round operator was awful. Heather walking backwards into scary rooms was awful. Then there's the fight at the end... This film was so bad it got me to the point where I thought the new Twilight film might be an improvement.
I figured it would turn out bad. from the trailers, it looked like they turned the movie into a teen horror genre.
It didn't even have any of the monsters from silent hill 3. Just the sexy nurses, which weren't in the game and pyramid head, who seems to be a part time carnie inn the film
End of Watch I liked the interaction between the two cops. A lot of it was hilarious and it genuinely felt like how you would expect two police partners to act in real life. But I hated the shaky cam, and I think the found footage thing is horribly played out.
Daybreakers It’s a vampire movie that has very little to do with vampires. It’s a B grade science fiction movie with a few good actors. I enjoyed it.
Blasphemy. Tommy Wiseau is the most brilliant and misunderstood filmmaker of our time. Nothing is better than The Room.
