    Anyone keep a LinkedIn profile? I keep getting invites from people but haven't bother to add myself.

    I am in the same boat, I get invites all the time but it isn't something I use or intend to use.

    I suppose if a person left their job or moved around a lot it would be nice to have a large collection of contacts.

    I've also managed to get by without ever needing LinkedIn. I've never found it more compelling than Dice or Ladders, and the stupid recommendations don't supersede job application procedures anyway. Interestingly, it has massive appeal in the NYC housing market, landlords request a LinkedIn profile a lot these days.

    LinkedIn is just like Facebook: it's mainly for keeping up appearances.

    I always assumed it was the giant e-Rolodex of the professional interweb.
