What about that old PC you have lying around? Could leve that on all day for a week, see how it fares.
I think it would be cool if minecraft also let you build creatures. Those creatures could then provide other resources or possibly be used for defense.
I dunno, build a circuit? You can use it to make a compass and watch I think but that's it if you're not making circuit based stuff. I've got to post some pics from the server I'm playing on, I've been busy. Here's a nice big tree Here's a Towery building thing Welcome to Eden. Completely handmade, from digging the sand and making them into glass to building it. No handouts. It's 41 blocks high and 81 blocks in diameter. Used about 13,000 glass blocks in total.
I hope zombies invade you're dome and you can't get out. What kind of machine is necessary for a server? I dug a few old PCs out of my basement the other day. They may or may not work.
If it's just a small server, like us three, it appears that anything over 1ghz about 512-1gb ram should be fine. Especially if mobs are off. The biggest bottleneck is hard drive speed.
Well that rules out the 486sx. I think I have most of a AMD 3400+ assembled. I didn't look at it too close so I can't be sure. Regardless it would be a few more weeks before I can get it set up.

Sorry that I haven't really been around recently, but I have been pretty busy. Further more, considering that I wont be able to really host the MC server anymore, I'd be more than happy to pass the map info over to who ever decides to start hosting a server.
Maybe we should join a publicish server, I've been playing on punchtrees' server and it's pretty good, it's not got many people on and there's been no griefing that i've seen
I dunno, it'd be a shame to lose it. rebuilding on the new server might be a bit harder cos they're nerfed TNT.
