lol to add to what I posted before about fringe people skewing group perceptions.... when i hear the word feminist, buzzfeed idiots are the first thing that come to mind. have you seen the girl complaining that air conditioning is sexist? manspreading on the subway video is also hilarious. h3h3 covers them once in awhile. Edit: lol the AC idiot was in the UK, but I forgot about the buzzfeed period blood video!
I think judging anything by its extremes is a dangerous thing to do if you want to judge things fairly. I could make the choice to judge men’s concerns by red pill posts or something written by Hawk. But I don’t. As I said before - a few times now - there’s lots of things where we can make a difference. I don’t think everyone needs to be active and doing things for every cause or even any cause, although I do think that’s a shame. What I can’t abide is lazy non-contributors moaning from the sides about issues they don’t really understand. Not saying you’re doing this, BTW. Would I moan if someone posted up they were involved in raising awareness of young male suicide? Would I then start posting shit from extreme women haters like Elliot Rodgers? No. I would listen to what they were doing, maybe offer advice and support if I could. So why do we have that inclination to do so on certain topics? I would suggest because they go against the status quo so we question them more.
I do apologise for responding to what you had written. Weird focus on sex again I see. You actually raise an interesting area though. Maybe there should be some action to raise awareness on this issue, both to companies and women. That might help make it better! No idea if the video is relevant, you’ve posted a lot of misleading stuff so I’m not going to waste my time watching it. Is it from one of the founders of feminism though? LOL
What’s your point here then? I find it disappointing you just post up images without comment. What are you saying?
I am sorry you have taken my response as a literal one. I was interpreting your point as being one about how people can be over-sensitive and how you enjoy people being emotionally upset at things like bullying or more serious issues. I was reassuring that you do not need to worry about other people being upset and attack them for their privilege of being humans with a good range of emotional understanding. I am sorry you took this as an attack; I am just trying to help you as a friend.
@AKS I thought that was a sarcastic post... that's actually a real thing? @bfun I wonder if McDonald's corporate knows about the sign. I can't see that being authorized by the franchise agreement. @monsly I don't think any rational person would support actual inequality, sexism, and assault. I guess that might be why the gray areas and hard fringe elements are so entertaining to talk about or laugh at.
No, not yet anyway. Keep your eye on Sweden and Canada, though. You never know what they'll come up with next.
Those buzzfeed videos are mainstream feminism, not some fringe thing. If you doubt that look at the view counts. Not my fault it’s a bunch of toxic, man hating garbage. That’s just what modern third wave feminism is.
Not sure you’re a particularly authoritative or trustworthy voice. You said Bindel was a founder of feminism, which is totally wrong. You said the pay gap was a myth then proceeded to post stuff that showed it wasn’t. And now, once more, you’re trying to paint the whole movement with your own prejudices using extremes. You’ve made false claims about my position that are laughably easy to show up. You’ve pretended you in the middle when you’re clearly on one side, as I’ve forced you to reveal. The sad thing is I reckon you mean some of it, aside the obvious trolling. Funny that the supposedly sensible and non-screeching male side has been the ones to make fools of themselves in this thread. Pity the poor snowflakes!
I’ve literally never encountered a feminist or read or seen anything by a feminist that cared about mens’ issues and wasn’t man hating. If there are so many great examples of this then post some of them. Good luck.
Even when feminists are supposedly trying to "help" men with male issues it tends to just boil down to claiming they aren't acting enough like women. Being toxically masculine and all.
Feminists view maleness as a disorder that needs to be suppressed and controlled. I legitimately fear for my son's future in a feminist controlled education system.
In terms of actions, yes. Feminism's effects on education are particularly worrisome. Most of the recent changes, such as cutting or reducing physical education and outlets for physical activity, are particularly harmful to boys. "Good behavior" is now essentially being quiet, passive, and agreeable, which is by and large how little girls tend to act. Rambunctious boys are now "problem children" who need discipline and medications to correct. Nevermind boys naturally tend to have a higher activity level and are more direct and assertive. If they'd just act like girls, they'd be "good" kids. Toxic masculinity.
Got to keep an eye on those little misogynistic monsters early: When researchers monitor teacher behavior, teachers are monitoring males 76% of the time. Toxically masculine little monsters are bound to be up to no good...even preschoolers apparently. But this is from a far right fringe MRA organization called "Yale Child Study Center." Probably hired by the patriarchy.
