The Desire is a fantastic phone, haven't used its big brother the Desire HD but I would guess it will be just as good.
I re-signed with Orange so It was a bit cheaper and I had to Pay them the massive sum of ten English pounds towards the phone, I thought It was a cracking deal as well @ Grim, I have heard only Good things about the Desire and HTC's in general and thats why I choose it over the LG Optimus 7 windows phone thingy
The Desire is really really old news. The Desire HD is the mac-daddy. It has a second gen snapdragon, DLNA and hdmi out. I think it's still the highest end HTC phone you guys have over there? That and the Desire Z.
For the first time I think we are going to start lagging behind the US when it comes to mobile phones after being ahead for such a long time. The 4G networks are not even being auctioned off until next year which may end up holding back some of the fancier phones from appearing over here.
Truthfully, I think it's more of a smart move for you guys. In the US, we're throwing the 4G term around really loosely. We consider LTE, wimax, and hspa+ all as 4G. As far as I know, clearwire was the only service provider to offer wimax as broadband for residential homes. And sprint worked off them for mobile phones. Tmobile USA started calling their hspa+ as 4G. ATT was moving to LTE in later 2011 but already had their hspa+ up but didn't want to call it 4G, but with Tmobile's move, it forced ATT's hand. And Verizon recently got their LTE up. Now, clearwire is probably gonna die (their top 3 executive officers left within a few days of each other), Sprint's already talking about moving to LTE and Tmobile USA got ate up by ATT. You guys have time to learn from our mistakes.
100% Certain, it's this http://shop.orange.co.uk/mobile-phones/upgrades/htc-desire-hd-chocolate?skuId=sku3600002 It doesn't have the details but I know what I ordered lol. @Armadeadn I hate Iphone's and to a lesser extent Blackberries so that wasn't an option besides I'm too much of a peasant to afford an Iphone.
You still should have got a Iphone. If not for liking it, you could have reverted back to your old mobile and sold the Iphone 4 for £300.
