Nintendo Switch

  1. Damn old school JRPG I like the look of that, and I would prefer it on the Switch over my PS4 so maybe you are right.

  2. I found a confirmation. Wonder Boy sold more on the Switch that it did on the PS4 & XB1 combined.

If this keeps up, the Switch will become the lead platform for most developers. And why did the XB1 lose all of those exclusives to the PS4? The PS4 outsells the XB1 in both hardware & software. So if this trend continues to swing in the Switch's favor, the PS4 could lose titles to the Switch.

And remember, the Japanese might hate the Xbox. But they love Nintendo. Even Sony is going to make games for it! LOL!

  3. I'm thinking about selling my PS4 for a Switch. It is just collecting dust, and my son would have more fun with a Nintendo platform. Plus my lady wants to play the new Mario game.

How much do you all think a white first gen PS4 is worth? I've got Destiny (vanilla), Fallout 4 and The Last of Us that I would include. I'm thinking start at $200 and see what kind of offers I get.

  4. $200 shipped? I'll buy it off you if no one wants it. There are some PS exclusives I've been meaning to play.

  5. Are you still in Miami? I could probably deliver it myself. It would be a good excuse to drive down and visit some friends.

  6. Ugh. My wife wasn't real happy when I told her I was getting one. Told me she needs something to get me for my birthday in a month and that I need to stop buying stuff for myself. So I guess I'll have to pass, as it sounds like I'm getting one anyway. I'm in Broward btw.

  7. What's the hard drive size and how many controllers?

  8. Bidding war! I'll give you $50, a GI-Joe action figure, and the recipe to my world famous BBQ sauce. I'll throw in a Totoro music box if you hand deliver it on Christmas Eve.

    • lol lol x 1
  9. It was the Destiny bundle, so I think its 500GB. One controller.

  10. Have you tried Garden Warfare 2? I got the first one on the PS3 and it's a pretty good kids game.

  11. I'm in for $200 if you don't get better offers.

  12. I went to walmart to grab a switch and I saw this instead.

So I'm putting my Switch purchase on hold for little bit. :D

I've got my Switch yesterday, along with Mario Odyssey.

I haven't had this much fun since Mario 64 came out in '96. :p

  14. So I found a guy who paid me $250 for my PS4, so I am now a Switch owner.

I love it. Not owning one made the whole premise of a tablet acting as a console seemed like a gimmick, but it actually is my favorite part of the system. The transition from home to portable makes this the most convenient system I have ever owned.

The joy cons are a little small, but its not too bad. I'll probably buy a Pro controller eventually. The system is perfect for my son. He has no problem accessing buttons, which can be an issue for his little hands on an Xbox or Playstation gamepad. Using the joy cons individually as tiny controllers is very awkward though and I don't enjoy it. I intend to avoid it unless absolutely necessary.

The user interface is actually clean, fast and mature, which is so incredibly unusual for Nintendo over the past decade. No Comic Sans styled text, no slow pointless animations. I am very impressed. Menus are also intuitive, and organized. Far better than the awful GUI on the PS4.

Not at all impressed with the eShop. I'm not talking variety of games, that is actually a plus. Developers seem to be embracing the system at an impressive pace, there is tons of software already. The store itself is a joke. You can search Best Sellers, New Releases or type in names in a search bar. That's it. Software gets lost in the store under this model and it is unacceptable. An example: Sonic Mania came out within the last three months, yet if you didn't search for it by name, you wouldn't know it existed. This is not going to go well for small devs, as their software will get buried fairly quick. Nintendo needs to address this ASAP. Also, I can't believe they haven't launched a Netflix app yet.

No comment yet on online services. I haven't used them yet, however I already know that its disappointing as it stands, with friend codes and no community at all. Hopefully when their paid service launches, they have an overhaul planned. I won't hold my breath though.

As far as games: I have Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8. I haven't played Mario Kart yet. Odyssey is amazing. It is such an incredible return to form. This will be a "must buy" for the system for its entire lifespan.

  15. The return to using friend codes is a bit baffling. They made us create a new Nintendo account to track our purchases, but they're not using it for friends. That's just beyond weird. But at least it did automatically search for existing friends on my NNID account.

  16. The eShop has always been shit which is pretty unbelievable when you consider how important it is.

  17. Here is the biggest head scratcher: I'm not even judging the eShop versus better competitors. I'm judging it based on previous versions of the eShop. The system in place for the 3DS is leaps and bounds ahead of the Switch in terms of shop interface, which is absurd. Then when you stack it up against more robust digital distro GUIs, it is just becomes embarrassing for Nintendo.

I am really hoping that there is a big update planned that addresses all these concerns at once with a complete overhaul. It would make sense to do it that way, since the current state feels so rushed and a step backwards. It makes me feel like they are waiting to fix everything altogether in some large milestone event, and the launch of the paid service seems like the obvious choice.

  18. I saw this and thought it was awesome.

  19. I just discovered a little hidden feature that is awesome. In the last system update, Nintendo enabled Gamecube controllers on the Switch is you have a USB adapter. I already had a Mayflash adapter for my PC, and it works! I just went from having one set of Joycons to having enough gamepads for 4 player split screen games in Mario Kart, and I didn't have to spend a single cent. I can't even express how overjoyed I am that money I spent on controllers in the early 2000s is still paying off today!

  20. Today is the 16th birthday of the GameCube.
