PlayStation 4 to be revealed February 2013?

  1. I've just finished watching the show.

Man it seems Sony are really intent on changing the way we play games. Social this and compare scores that. I do like a good bit of multiplayer but most of my gaming is done solo, I hope Sony haven't fogotten about single player games. I'm looking forward to the new FF announcement although I'd like them to get Versus XIII, XIII-3, and XIV out of the way first before announcing a FFXV. After Gran Turismo 5 I realised I'm bored to tears with traditional racers so I'll most likely just ignore the Driving Club game. The Witness looked boring. It's a puzzle game which already makes me want to back away slowly and it looks like a cartoon which at times looks good but I just feel it seems like a waste of all that power, silly but that's just me. Future Theft Creed looks good though. I'm glad what we saw before was actually next gen footage and not some jumped up PC fooatge as I'd suspected. I'm wondering if my current PS Move will work with the new console or if they require us to spend more monies on peripherals. Killzone did impress me graphically, that and the face. I'm getting those excited feels again like when I saw the graphics of the PS2 for the first time. Hopefully that video with the retarded dragon was in-game, if so I have to say it looks sweet. I don't see how useful that stupid touchpad on the controller will be and the share button seems pretty redundant to anyone who likes to make quality videos that are produced with idents, music, and logos etc. Great for people just looking to upload short gameplay clips with no polish I guess. It looks like they kind of answered the question of whether or not we'll keep our gamerscores/trophies, which was nice.

Overall I liked some of the pretty graphics and flashy lights but felt there wasn't much content for a 2 hour show. Just an hour and a half of people repeating buzz words like "innovation", "social connectivity", "interaction" etc etc. Sounded like a masterclass on marketing lingo. Also twitter has blown up with everyone complaining about not actually seeing the PS4, and I agree. Would it have killen them to show us what it looks like? I even saw a bunch of people syaing that they woun't buy the console until they've seen it, which seems like an odd thing to say since I'm pretty sure most people will see it before they buy it. Now to wait and see if Microsoft have anything better to show us.

  2. Simple. The internet signal in the games room is pants because the signal has to go through several thick walls and a floor to reach it. Hence I have my famous 20m ethernet cable to solve the problem when it comes to my consoles.

  3. 8GB GDDR5 is damn insane, insane I tells you! I haven't seen the videos of any games, but feedback seems a bit either way. I'm sure games will impress more at launch and even more a year or two after that. :) Either way, they just matched (in capacity) and bettered (in speed) the one spec advantage MS had on them with the rumoured next xbox.

  4. Apparently in not the only one who had trouble with the stream.

  5. Like I said before I had a HD stream and the videos looked good, tried to watch some videos back this morning on game sites and YouTube and they look worse so no idea why you had such a bad stream, maybe a bad connection for you.

  6. I was watching in HD too from Sony's page. Had some buffering during the Infamous announcement but otherwise fine.

  7. You were watching live but didn't join in the forum discussions, boooooo!

  8. It never even crossed my mind to check the forums. You guys are just too nerdy. I had it on fullscreen anyhoo.

  9. 8GB GDDR5 is an insane amount of video memory. I'm so glad I held off on upgrading my PC. Anything I would have built would have been a waste of money.

  10. Sony confirm that the PS4 will NOT block used games. Lending games to your mates isn't dead yet!

  11. How good is that in layman's terms?

  12. It's comparable to a very expensive SLI or Crossfire setup with two $500 video cards.

  13. Simplify again plz. Those words mean nothing to me.

  14. To put things in perspective, this video card only has 4GB GDDR5, and take a look at the price tag.

The PS4 will have as much video memory as current high-end PCs that cost a lot more money.

  15. Is that with or without tax?

    PS4 RAM = $1000?

  16. No tax on online orders in the US. And exactly. It's comparable to $1000 worth of PC video cards.

  17. Wow, I'd like to see the cost breakdown for the PS4 parts.

  18. I'd also like to see how they're going to pull this off. I'm guessing the PS4 is going to be yet another system that's sold at a loss in the beginning, with Sony hoping to make up for it in software sales.

  19. You can't really compare it directly to the cost of those cards as they include the GPU, heat-sink and other circuitry. We have no idea which AMD GPU this thing is using on it's APU at the moment which again would make the price comparison fluctuate.

  20. The GDDR5 is the system memory, not the GPU memory.
