Playstation Online

  1. The class balance seems pretty spot on. Have to say I really noticed the difference on the match where there was no decent tacticians at all. Have to think about what I'll upgrade next; got 6 points to spend. My engineer turrets are fully upgraded and my sniper has the full cloak. Torn between the top sniper gun or maxing out my infiltrator class. Hmmmmm, what to do.

  2. Played this a fair bit more today and it continues to impress. I've now got the best sniper gun and it's a beast - one hit kills are very nice indeed. The sniper class can be awesome on the right level. Absolutely dominated on some maps.

I've also maxed out the infiltrator class but I'm struggling to do much with it; everyone is so twitchy about disguised people that often speculative shooting will get you killed. I might stick with it a little longer but I don't think it's as overpowered as some people say.

I think if you could get a small group together that are vaguely organised then you'll be pretty hard to beat. We'll have to sort out some forum games in the near future. I'm sure chi was going to get this but he's mysteriously disappeared AGAIN.

  3. Anyone get that Dungeon Hunter Alliance?

I'm thinking of picking it up. :S

  4. Is there anyway to share hard drive saves between two different PS3s?

  5. If they're copy protected, then no. But most other saves you can copy over to the same user on a different PS3 and things will be good to go.

  6. Is there a simple way to do that?

  7. You can use a USB device like a memory stick or external HDD. PS+ users get "cloud" saving (basically just some network space for saves).

  8. I'm interested in this but I'm waiting for a few reviews first. I've only dabbled in this genre but it's been good fun when I've tried it. Let me know how you get on if you get it.

  9. I now wish I used that small windfall a while back to get a new PS3 since I am now just waiting for my new internet and also will be wired instead of wireless this time.

  10. So it's now the 3rd day of PSN being down. Apparently hackers messed up the network so Sony took it offline on the evening of the 20th saying that it "could be down for one or two full days", three days later and we're still no closer to being able to play online. Not a good time to have to perform serious maintenance since it's a large bank holiday.

    Latest official Sony statement:

They want to hurry up. This is preventing me from getting a lot of trophies on the game I got for my birthday since you have to be signed in to play those modes. I also have recently developed a hankering for Zombies on both Red Dead and Black Ops and can't satisfy that hankering. I wonder if they're even working on it over the weekend/bank holidays?

  11. I doubt bank holidays are going to be much of a consideration. We don't even have any such thing here in the US. I have little doubt that they are going to get back online as soon as they determine that the system is secure again. They can't sell any movies or games online as long as it's down, which is costing them a ton of cash. It also pisses their customers off and tarnishes their PSN brand name.

  12. You should see some of the posts over on the black ops forum, they're laughable. Some people are saying that Sony owes them stuff like free funding in their PSN wallet or even extra double xp weekends for some games as compensation. Sony doesn't owe anybody anything. They could shut the whole thing down tomorrow and no-one could do anything about it. Some people eh?

  13. Pretty bad timing really, if the weather was bad this would have been a real pain for me but as it's been so nice I've not really played much.

  14. Perhaps paying for PS3 online would stop this kind of thing?

  15. Sony attacks the hackers, the hackers attack back. Circle of life.

  16. Hackers are the scum of the Earth. Why they feel the need to cheat at multiplayer games is beyond me. You can tell a hacker a mile off too so it's not like they're doing it to look "cool" by being at the top of the leaderboards because everyone can see that they're a hacker and just an all round prize cunt. They should be perma banned from all games the instant they hack, maybe charged too since I'm pretty sure hacking is illegal.

  17. Stop hacking? Not likely.

There have been problems with LIVE as well, which is obviously a paid service. It wasn't completely crashed as PSN has been for the past few days, but the service was terrible and almost unusable for about a month. My free copy of Undertow is a reminder of it.

  18. I've got around to playing this today and it's been good fun indeed. It's very much like the Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance games; it's very simple and straightforward to play and the upgrade paths and weapons add some decent depth.

  19. Portal 2 arrived. It looks quite good and runs smoothly. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to try out the online features and get my Steam copy because PSN is still down. Valve has added a lot of variety to the look and apparently made two campaigns that are each significantly larger than the original game. I'd definitely recommend it to everyone who loved the original based on what I've seen so far.

  20. Fantastic I have been needing a new game and I quite enjoyed the Dark Alliance games so I think I shall pick this one up by the end of the week.
