I'd imagine his conundrum is a 40" plasma tv is much cheaper than a 40" computer monitor. Split screen has never been all that great on pc.
40'' pc screens dont exist, and its just as easy as a console to hook your pc up to that big screen plasma.
Why wouldn't I want both versions for the price of one? I get both the PC and PS3 version for $55, free shipping, and an additional $20 credit for my next game. I guess I'm missing how that isn't an awesome deal for me. If for no other reason, I may let my younger brother borrow the PS3 version to try out given that he has a PS3 only and LOVED Portal. I'm also curious to see how the PS3 version runs and how the Steamworks features are integrated. I'm hoping that more Valve co-op, cross-platform games are released on PS3 in the future, especially future Left 4 Dead games. I would love to play L4D with friends from PSN from my PC.
I don't know if the PC has a split screen mode but it's far from simple to hook my PC up to the TV. It's much easier to pay the extra $10 and get both versions.
I guess it depends on your home theater setup. It's as simple as plugging in my PC to receiver via HDMI and plugging in the power for me. I have my PS3, 360, and PC all hooked up to the same Panasonic plasma and 7.1 Marantz/Polk Audio VM series system. Switching between them involves pressing a single button on the remote.
Do you have a plasma?? they suck for pc games due to an incredibly low native res that just gets scaled up. Plus if you've not got a total geek palace in your living room it's not quite easy to set up. I don't have a wireless controller on my pc, though I know a few are available, but none are really easy to set up, most are hacks.
1080p doesn't seem "incredibly low" for Metro 2033. It's a bitch to run without compromises in settings, actually. Nor does 1080p seem low for Blu-ray movies considering that's their top end resolution.
What are you talking about? 1080P? Thats the same for all TVs. I do 1920x1200 on my PC screen but I wont be able to output that to any TV.
The reviews are saying this is only about 7 hours long, so I stand by what I said. I'll pick it up when it's cheap.
7 hours in single player or 7 hours in both single and co-op playing? To be honest I don't care. Portal was one of the best games ever made and I'm so far behind on my game library that I don't mind a really great short game. I'm looking at about 300 hours for Riven, Dragon Age 2, and The Witcher 2. Then I also need to start Uncharted 2 and I'm not sure how long that is.
But you must consider the height, width, and depth in two dimensions. It's like a 2 by 3 matrix. Then if there are 2 portal guns it could jump to a 4x9 matrix or 36 dimensions.
I loved Portal because it was such a mind bending experience. I've never played a game that made me think like that. I think it's an awesome idea and I'm definitely getting Portal 2.
The campaign has been excellent. It has much more variety and depth to the story compared to the original. 9.5/10 so far.
Really? So it's one of the greatest games ever made? Saying it's damn near perfect is a big statement.
Is it worth full price then? I've been concerned whether there's enough game content to justify full price.
Man some of you guys throw ratings out of proportion. AKS is just one man.. he's not a review site. He said 9.5 cuz he thoroughly enjoys it.
