One more similarity. The original Alien trailer siren sound effect is mixed into Prometheus' trailer BGM. YOU CAN'T LIE TO US RIDLEY.
It's interesting that Noomi Rapace is in this. She is the actress who played Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She's a pretty decent actress, is easy on the eyes, and she doesn't seem to hold back from anything raw or gritty. I'm glad to see this franchise is back in the right hands.
She was in Sherlock Holmes Game of Shadows but she seemed underutilised there. Not a great character.
Speaking of similarities, here are some shots from the 1965 B-movie Planet of the Vampires. The overall storyline is not the same as Alien, but the distress signal, creepy planetary atmosphere, Freudian interiors, U shaped ship, and giant space jockeys in an abandoned site is similar. It also incorporates the idea of humans as hosts for alien life, although definitely not in the same way as Alien.
Ridley Scott seems to lie through his teeth a lot. Like all of the stuff about Prometheus having no relation to Alien, or all of the Deckard is not a replicant stuff, even though he clearly is if you pay attention to Blade Runner. He makes great movies though, so I guess he can get away with it.
Yeah, the comments he's made about Prometheus are fairly nonsensical given the trailer, but you're right...if anyone can make an interesting spin-off or prequel to Alien, it's him. I guess I can give him the benefit of the doubt regarding Planet of Vampires, but SOMEONE involved with the original Alien had seen it even if he personally hadn't.
A pretty cool Viral Video has just gone up... The more I see and hear about this movie the more excited I get..I think this might just trump all the other movies out this year for me.
Looks awesome. The last few years have been dreadful for movies. I can't recall any really good action or sci-fi. I had high hopes for Avatar, but that ended up being Fern Gully with a $200 million budget.
This movie really has me expecting great things now. I rarely get hyped about movies, especially prequels/sequels, but damn, it sure looks like this is going to be done right.
