Finally someone sees the light. Science may be able to explain how to boil water or shot people in their face but can it explain love? No. The warming sun in the morning, the call of the wind and a peaceful soul can't be found in any science lab.
Science uses tested results based on available data to make a conclusion. If more data is made available, conclusions can and do change. This is a good thing,. Religion is untested, and relies on blind faith. "I don't know" is a perfectly acceptable answer to me, filling in the blanks with tales of lunacy is not. Science goes from: Hypothesis - Data collection - Lots of testing Theory - More data collection - Testing - Repetition A long long time later it may get declared as Scientific Fact/Truth
But what is light? We cannot see it but it lets us see, so what is it that we are really seeing and is it "illuminated"? Is the sun real or is it a figment of the imagination?
What if tomorrow science found out red was blue and 1+1=3? Everything would change. The things you put faith in today could turn out to be as empty as the belief you scorn in religion. And don't think it couldn't happen. Science has changed it's tune just as much as religion over the years. Science and religion may listen to different music but it's music just the same.
When has religion changed its tune? When science debunks a piece of the propaganda campaign? It's good to re-evaluate your stances, if contradictory evidence is presented.
You don't think religion has changed over the years? According to the bible, picking up sticks on a Saturday is punishable by death. Don't see much religious fervour over that. Yet homosexuals, similarly punished in the bible, are often massive targets of religious bigotry and hate still. Why is this?
Are you separate from the sun at all? Are the divisions we draw artificial or real? The greatest scientific invention was not the wheel, the atom bomb or the computer. It was the square.
I'm rather surprised by your inability to spot stuff like me saying Darwin was a Christian Orthodontist who proved chimps came from monkeys wasn't entirely serious. But I'm also surprised at some of the things you and supersonic argued and the style you've used.
This is usually where I get lost in the religious debates, as I am not well versed in the top-down structure. But it is my understanding the bibles positions are held as truth by the Church, correct? Whether some people in a village in Nebraska are killing lynching homosexuals is irrelevant. Does the church not hold the text as truth? Also to mark on the scientific theories that change. It should be noted that theories generally change over time in a evolutionary manner. This is not the same as completely scrapped theories.
I actually only read the first part of your post that I first replyed to be honest. I usually read all of a post, but I decided to only reply to the first problem I saw. Further more I simply said that your trolling had pretty much destroyed the thread beyond being salvagable.
@Armitage: If you look forward to and encourage a thread that intends to shit on something then don't cry if someone shits on you. I guess you need to learn to properly read and analyse things and not reply with stock answers that can be picked up and turned around so easily.
This thread is about shitting on religion. I leave analysis and serious debate to TheBlackCat. I was gonna title it Religion is stupid, but thought this might attract more outside users. Tomorrow we move on to Hinduism.
I have had a lot of LOLs, old bean. Perhaps you'd do well to curb your arrogance in the future to avoid further...unpleasantness.
@supersonic: this phone is being a pain in the ass for the longer reply I was doing so I'll do it tomorrow when I'm on a PC. If I remember to not delete the text I've done. And you're going to do religion spotlights for us? How wonderful. I shall look forward to the next one. PERMENANTLY. GHAHAHA!
So me having a bit of fun at no-ones expense is arrogance now is it? I know how to deal with children monsly, so give it a rest.
You definitely come across as arrogant; and a not particularly great brand of arrogance at that. Are you threatening me with paedo love? You men of science have no shame.
