Remembering the original PVCF

  1. I disagree. Alex was a little crazy but he never broke the rules. I never liked gripper but again I don't think he broke any rules. YoYo I'm not so sure about. I think CS banned several people but a lot of them came back. That's one of the challenges of a public forum I suppose.

  2. Alex was weird but harmless. Gripper/YoYo had a massively negative impact on the forum. I don't think anyone looked forward to their posts. I'd have no problem with members like that being banned.

  3. Gripper's trolling, spamming, and hate speech would have gotten him banned on the vast majority of forums on the web.

  4. I don't think Alex should have been banned. I think Gripper should've been hit with a "new thread limit" of some sort, but not outright banned.

I don't mind the occasional troll attack from the likes of yoyo & co. Keeps things interesting. Back in the old days Steve would let that shit go down, but bin it within a day or two and it was over and done forever. I am for going back to that kind of moderating.

Which reminds me... we need The Recycle Bin

  5. The Recycle Bin was pretty damn entertaining back in the day. It would be nice to have something like that. I've never seen another forum with one though, I wonder it it's even possible with these template based BB's?

The forum peaked sometime in 2005 at the anticipation of the new consoles. Once they hit there was far less conflict between all factions. Surely though, there has to be some way to make the place interesting without just relying on conflict?

  6. Consoles didnt win, neither did the PC platform. The battle started in 2002, and will last forever, i hope ;)

  7. Ah yes, I remember when I joined in the summer of 03. Jesus. It's been a long time.

I was just getting to 9th grade then, haha.

  8. Yeah, and all you wanted to talk about was Final Fantasy X. Good times.

    • like like x 1
  9. I remember when many of my threads were send to the recycle bin :(

  10. We don't have one at the moment so we won't bin your threads. Lol.

  11. actually the original delphi pvcf started back in like 1998 no probably 97 or before, cuz somebody predicted that Dreamcast would fail in 98... pissed me off. Especially when it did a short 4 years later. musta' been robzombie or one of those pc fanboy deadheads.

  12. back when CS let sh*t slide I and others like Chip (Quade), Pichu and Khaid would MAKE our threads in the bin :D guess Steve just got sick of our hullabaloo as I couldn't do that no more when I came back in 2008 :(
