Looks like most review for the new AMD 4900HS APU show it beating Intel's best mobile chips in every category. Single thread, multi-thread, discrete GPU, power, and price. I think AMD might be the new performance king of laptops. https://hothardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-4000-asus-rog-zephyrus-g14-notebook-review?page=2 https://www.techspot.com/review/2003-amd-ryzen-4000/
The thing to remember is that it is doing this at 35w compared to the high end Intel which is drawing 90W+. AMD really have pulled a rabbit out of the hat with this one, high end laptop that can last 10 hours on battery!
Also thinner and less than half the weight of those i9 laptops. It will be interesting to see what the do in the ultra portable category.
Linus did a good review. The Intel Laptop that he had that could nearly keep up was enormous and had 2 jet engines installed.
That Helios was a beast. Best Linus quote, "AMD just choked slammed the fastest mobile processor on the market". The IPC gains must be huge for a 35w 4.4GHz processor to match a 120w 5GHz processor in single core performance.
So Intel fought back by releasing 10th gen laptop parts that need 135w of power and showed in slides that they are faster than 3 year old Intel chips. Intel knows it is in trouble!
