Shadow of Mordor

  1. The thing I am worried about is the fact I currently have the 5 current war chiefs under my control. If I start fucking around doing other stuff and they get fighting or anything I don't want to lose one.

This game has it's own agenda, you never know what might happen.

Apparently once I finish the game it takes me back to where I left off so can easily clean up I choose to.

  2. Shadow of Mordor

I have to say this was a fantastic game, they got most of the elements spot on, its probably a better assassins creed game than any of the games in that series! The stealth is well done and the upgrades are well spaces out by but the end you are really overpowered.

Its only 2 flaws were that 1: it was a little easy, I only died to one war chief and 2: the tower and the black hand fights were major let down.

For these last two reasons I give it 8.5/10.

I was also a little disappointed that after completing all of the weapon missions and collecting all of the hidden items there was no reward. I felt they could have given each weapon a new ability something.

  3. Do it then. Easy Plat to add to your collection. :p

  4. So people are really loving Shadow of Mordor. Maybe I'll pick it up when it's cheap.

  5. It's an awesome game other than the last two boss fights being too easy. The hammer is actually a really awesome and epic boss fight. Not sure why the last two weren't that good. Also as Grim said, you get super overpowered, but it's actually kind of fun. I really enjoyed chopping off and detonating orc heads, sending large groups of them into a panic. It's a bit like the newer Batman games crossed with Assassin's Creed. But it's a much better game than anything in the AC series. Also the graphics are absolutely georgous. Not sure how it looks on the consoles, but running it maxed out on a GTX 980 it's a visual feast with some of the best graphics I've seen. I hope they make a sequel.

  6. The environment is unimaginative, the story is simple, NPCs are almost nonexistent, the game play is repetitive, and the only real choices are where to invest skill points but if you put enough time into it you can unlock everything. Despite all this it actually manages to be fun. The difficulty of the game seems to really vary. When I first started playing I went online to get some tips. I was surprised by the number of people complaining that it was so hard they quit playing. And then of course some people like grim say it's too easy. In my opinion the game needs to be difficult and you need to die to get the best experience. In most games your death is just an annoyance and a reset point. In SoM it becomes part of the story.

  7. The difficulty reminds me of old school RPGs. It starts off difficult, but gets easy as you level up, and by the end you are ridiculously powerful. I like this style of difficulty because it makes you feel like you've earned your power.

Also I think cutting out a lot of extraneous things and focusing on gameplay is a good thing. The Assassin's Creed games have such a heavy handed story and so much hand holding and so many on rails sections that I find them boring and unbearable. This game lets you cut loose and do your own thing early on. That can mean getting repeatedly raped by Orc captains if you aren't careful, but I like the freedom.
