Things that need censoring would be offensive racist terms, definitely. I think swearing is allowed in this forum, so that probably shouldn't be a problem unless it's excessive. Also posts where the poster types a million "blahblahblah"'s to stretch the page should be cut down to one instance and perhaps a message saying [truncated] As for trolling for humour or trolling to annoy. If people find it humorous, then they can play along and nothing need be done. If a user does find it offensive or irritating they can call them out as a troll and a mod can come and see what the best course of action would be.
I don't want kids in here. I actually considered implementing some kind of age restriction. Kids are annoying as fuck.
Racism is in the rules. So a mod can step in for sure. But so is "staying on topic", we should come to a conclusion on how lax that can be. I don't think we need a language filter though.
A troll subsection would be pointless, wouldn't it? There's no fun in trolling if people know you are so real trolls would avoid it.
I was actually referring to young adults, above 14 to 17, but yeah. I think we need to update the rules on everything we have discussed so far.
I mostly threw that in there because of Encryptedmind and his racist troll posts about blacks and Mexicans. Those got very tiresome.
Think that depends on how big and close the members are. Perhaps it doesnt work out for a forum like this, but for a clan or organization it certainly does.
It means the forum is about the community as a whole, not just one man or his sites forums. We all decide on matters, not just the staff.
Yea, but 'problem' is that if new members join that we have never seen before might think different about things then we from the old PVC do.
So I think it's pretty unanimous: 1. Don't edit posts unless under extraordinary circumstances. 2. Edit should NOT put words into other peoples posts. Only remove offending words. 3. If edits occur use [censored] or [truncated]. But I think the natedrake issue boils down to how strictly staying on topic should be enforced. Anybody else got any opinions on that?
Teenagers tend to be too retarded to carry on an intelligent conversation. The problem with most gaming forums is that they fill up with obnoxious 14 year olds who think they know everything despite having no life experience. We're lucky to have an older crowd here of guys in their 20s and 30s. I'd make this place 18 and over if I had my way.
Indeed, but remember that half of us were kids when we first joined the original PVCF. I was only 15 at the time.
@The Bacon Master: I don't mind some rambling, as long as it's not too long. Adds to the character in some threads. I certainly think we could all do with focussing a bit more in certain threads. Some have spiralled off down random avenues.
The troll section could be for old trolled threads that have run their use and would have been deleted. I think it would be better than deleting them since they're always an interesting read and can be used for reference.
Agreed Monsly, and that is what the point of the Chatroom is, to post random chat and discussion. We need to keep threads on topic or all manner of randomness begins.
I actually came here to escape the tweens and teens at Gamespot and IGN. Those places are awful. The worst thing is when they give the little kids mod powers.
