  1. Disregard my pdf issue, I fixed it. There was an option in the print window called "Comments and Forms". All I had to do was change the option from "Document" to "Document and markups", now it's printing the amended versions of the files. Got a new work PC before Christmas and I must have totally forgotten about this option's existence while setting it up.

  2. It bugs me that they've used a different font for each panel.

  3. Hey guys. So recently upgraded to Windows 10 and ever since then my laptop has had difficulty staying connected to the internet. I'll go to google and it will throw messages like "google.co.uk took too long to respond" and "Your computer is offline". Sometimes it will correct itself and go to the website, but most of the time it just says I'm connected (to the network) with no internet access, while my phone and PS4 remain unaffected. This is happening very frequently.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  4. Reinstall the drivers for your wireless card

  5. I'd take it a step further and say get a newer version of the drivers or an older version. If it's a laptop you may need to get them from the manufacture. Dell, HP...

  6. I'd take it a step further and just get a new laptop.

    • lol lol x 1
  7. Dudebro is so computer illiterate, that's probably what he'll end up doing. I mean we can tell him to reinstall the drivers for his wireless card, but he has no idea what we're talking about. I'm surprised he doesn't use a Mac to be honest.

9 times out of 10 wireless cards in Laptops are mini PCI/PCI-E* and not OEM brand so the drivers from the actual manufacturer will work.

If you're unsure of the manufacturer look at it in device manager, if you've already uninstalled get the device ID from the unknown device properties and google it.

Again 9 times out of 10 if you plug it in with an ethernet cable and run a Windows update Windows will pull the drivers down itself.

    * You can get M.2 ones now but I am not sure it will be a new enough laptop.

  9. Intel, Realtek, and Broadcom are pretty much it right? The advantage of going through the laptop manufacture with his laptop model number is he is more likely to get the correct driver. Or maybe not.

  10. I tend to find the laptop manufacturer site is often a few months out of date or don't even bother to release updates after x number of years.

Dell tend to list all of the options that were available too so you have to guess if you don't know.

  11. Running windows update did nothing, as expected. Some websites suggest going into command prompt (admin) and typing "reg delete HKCRCLSID{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /va /f", which I did, and it just said "Error Invalid key name". So as expected, it did nothing.

Some people suggested downloading and running this "winsockfix.bat", which unsurprisingly did not fix the issue. I fucking hate computers sometimes.

So now I did this. Running windows update did nothing, as expected. I googled my wi fi adapter and went to this site "http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=ob_131223_1" and downloaded the driver. That did nothing at first, the internet dropped a couple of mintues later. But for the last few hours it's been fine. So thanks for the advice chaps.

  12. Disregard previous comment, it just happened again. Twice in 10 minutes.

  13. What brand and model is your laptop?

  14. It's an HP ENVY m6. [IMG]

  15. You should have bought a Thinkpad or a Mac. HPs are notorious turds. I also love how they provide no driver support for your model on their website.

  16. lol.. HP ENVY m6 narrows it down to a few hundred combinations. You need the full model number, look on the back.

@cmdrmonkey I believe in disposable laptops, since they can't be upgraded. HP > Dell in that regard. Also, if he actually provided the model number, you can get drivers.

  17. I'm in the disposable laptop club. Going on 15 months with an Acer i5 I got for $300 on a black Friday deal. No complaints for the price.

lol my Thinkpad X1 Carbon will probably still be working after you've trashed like five disposable notebooks. It already survived a corgi wrestling match where it got thrown 10 feet across the room, hit the wall and landed on the floor. Not a scratch on it, and it was even open when it happened. Enjoy your squishy, flexy keyboards, cheap plastic cases, subpar 768p TN displays, and lack of proper driver support. I'd rather buy one nice notebook every 5-7 years than a shitty one every year or two.

  19. I use a 5 year old Dell Inspiron 15, all I did was swap the HDD to an SSD, still works perfectly, boots in seconds and running Win 10.

As long as you buy something with an Intel iX CPU it should last years. Its the cheaper pentium or AMD laptops that I see crap out after a few years. Sandy/Ivy Bridge Intel's still going strong.

  20. Or...every 3 years we get a new laptop with the latest features while you get laughed at by small children because your expensive one looks like it's being powered by a hamster in wheel. But to be fair, cheap laptops do usually have cheap screens. That'd be my only complaint. If it was my primary system I'd pay a lot more for a better screen.
