The Great US vs UK Food Debate

  1. It looks like nothing, like a kids meal. I thought you Americans had awesomely big meals or is that place just crap at portions?

  2. Denny's is crap in general. It's a diner for drunk and homeless people.

    Same thing with Waffle House.

  3. Speaking of Waffles. I have never tried them before.

  4. Grits, sounds like the stuff they put on the roads in snowy weather.

  5. Waffle House is a good place to get hepatitis or stabbed for your wallet, and a not so good place to get waffles. Waffle House is sketchier than Denny's if that's possible.

  6. They both have really cheap food, so attract some interesting clientele.

  7. Denny's really is a place for low lives though.. ok ok, maybe that's a bit harsh, but there is a reason why there are always denny's near strip clubs.

  8. Birds eye potato waffles?
    They're waffley versatile

  9. You can grill 'em, bake 'em, fry 'em AND eat 'em.

  10. The american kind, not the English potato kind.

  11. Me and two guys drove an hour out of our way because one of the guys had never seen a waffle house and wanted to see how sketchy it was. The weird thing is that the food isn't very cheap. I do like the classic dinner feel though.

  12. I had to eat grits several times before I began to like them. They don't taste like anything so you have to add stuff to them.

  13. British people always point to Ramsay being able to cook, but I'm not sure that's true. The dude has issues not burning toast, and his scrambled eggs look like runny, undercooked slop below even Denny's or Waffle House standards.

  14. That looked pretty good. I'd eat it.

  15. That is how a lot of posh places do scrambled eggs, not my cup of tea but it is very common.

  16. Posh? I thought this was how everyone did scrambled eggs.

  17. Americans don't. It's cooked all the way so it solidifies and is fluffed but not creamy.

  18. I do mine a bit more solid and most cafés I have had them in are the same. I find the more expensive the eggs the runnier they come.

  19. When I was in Amsterdam it was always runny scrambled eggs and soggy undercooked bacon for breakfast. It terrified me.

  20. Say what you will about American food, but breakfast is a meal we do better than just about anyone else.
