The Great US vs UK Food Debate

Discussion in 'Everything Else' started by supersonic, Jan 30, 2011.

  1. Wow... bacon, ham, sausage, egg, cheese croissant. Will have to try that immediately!

Can't believe there is no love for the McGriddle here. The buns are literally pancakes w/ maple syrup (injected).

  2. I was actually talking about those Egg Mcmuffin's. That Burger King breakfast croissant just pisses all over it in looks alone. Do Burger King do that croissant in the uk or is it just one of those American wonderful things?

  3. Oh I like them but I don't like to order them because they seem so unhealthy. My daughter will get them but then she only eats the pancake part.

  4. The croissant is French. Don't the English dislike French stuff?

  5. No dont be silly not now anyway.

  6. My French teacher in High School was quite adamant that the English were always making fun of the French. But that was a long time ago.

  7. Probably when we were at war with them and years after, but now we just make fun of everyone. Equality and all that. :D

I’ve been doing a weeklong tour of Texas. The food is fantastic. I could rotate between eating BBQ, Tex-Mex, and authentic Mexican for the rest of my life.

I tried the infamous Franklins BBQ supposedly best in Texas if not the USA. Was skeptical of the hype but that place was legit.

I’m interested in eating a random or poorly rated BBQ just to see if it’s still better than my options on the east coast.

But the big downside to Texas is this muggy heat. I could never live here. I basically hide in my hotel and don’t leave until it gets dark. That gives me about 30 minutes of time before I soak my clothes in sweat.

  9. The muggy heat and awesome BBQ and Mexican food are probably why everyone in TX is morbidly obese, lol

I've never had bad BBQ around Houston. Even some of the lesser known hole in the wall places are ten times better than anything I can get in FL.

  10. Yeah. I tried a random bbq and it was probably better than anything I could get in the nyc metro.

I tried some Texas fast food too.

Whataburger is an impressive chain. I didn’t understand what a Texas sized burger was until I saw it. I’m sorry I doubted it. It was good but not as good as In N Out, Shake Shake, or 5 Guys.

However, Torchys Tacos is THE best fast food Mexican chain I’ve ever been too. It might also be the best fast food place in general I’ve been too.

  11. Yeah I wouldn't put Whataburger on par with like 5 Guys or Shake Shack, but it's definitely a step up from McDs and Burger King, and they are everywhere in TX.

  12. Brexit was a mistake.

  13. Putin and Trump seem happy with it.

  14. Should we lock this thread? UK food is so bad they voted to starve themselves to death.

  15. Torn dough, marinara like sauce, rice, cheese like substance, and corn.

Not going to judge. I'll have CiCi's make this for me before I score it.

  16. Don't forget to have them cook it with a garbage fire and cut it with a spackle knife

  17. That's a no for me, Clive.

I thought that was mayo he was squirting on it. Apparently it's some kind of soft cheese that's common in Brazil. It still looks gross and was cooked using garbage. I can't totally judge without tasting it though. Lots of gross looking things taste great.
