Do you buy all your films from some dodgy geezer in what you think is Sainsburys but is actually a weird backstreet alley?
Well I feel dumb. Just spent 5 minutes wondering why I couldn't watch the 2D version. Turns out I had the wrong disc in. Also: way to have random spoken languages! They've got the usual European stuff, and then there's Chinese. What the...
mandarin? fitting as it's the most spoken language in the world. was only a matter of time before it reached middle earth
Yes, it was Mandarin. The Bluray seems to include the dubs from a bunch of foreign markets. Languages are: English, 7.1 (5.1 for hearing impaired),Castilian Spanish 5.1, Catalan 5.1, French 5.1, Italian 5.1, Mandarin 5.1. It just seemed odd to have Mandarin on the European Bluray.
Oh dubs! I thought you meant Jackson worked mandarin into the script and I hadn't noticed. If you worked at Oxford University you would understand exactly why they've included Mandarin on European blurays.
I'm kind of tempted to watch with the foreign dubs to see how they handle the middle earth language bits but I don't think there are any in the hobbit. 3D looks good from the quick peek I had last night.
Got an email from WB asking me where I got it from. Told them their quality control was obviously rubbish. See what they do next.
Saw the 3D bluray of this tonight. Thought it was decent but somewhat underwhelming. Felt quite padded, god knows what the extended edition will be like.
