The State of Gaming

  1. Again, you're confused. Pointing out a crap argument is crap is a factual statement, not trolling.

Trying to say either console or PC gaming is superior as a fact is a fundamentally stupid thing to do. Only stupid people do it. As I'm not stupid, I don't feel the need to say console gaming is better. Or PC gaming. Because that would be stupid.

  2. Am not confused. My argument was not crap, its a fact that pc gaming offers higher quality of graphics, smoother framerates, less limits (24 vs 64 players in BF3 for example), more alive mod community, and in general better graphics (DX10/11 effects that arent aviable in the console versions).

    Your trolling.

  3. No, showing stupidity isn't trolling. Your continued lack of understanding regarding PC VS consoles is either massive stupidity or trolling.

Again, NEITHER is better. They both have strengths in different genres and areas. You cannot say one is better as a fact. This is fairly simple stuff.

As for your stupid point above, how does better graphics in some games mean the PC is better overall? That kind of thinking (if it can be classed as that) would suggest that Bioshock 2 is a better game than System Shock 2. it's just a stupid angle to take.

  4. You have tunnel vision mate.
Il give one example, maybe you'l understand this time, BC2 for example, is the best on pc.
You have 24 player matches vs the 32 matches on pc. The resolution can be bumped up to real HD or even higher. The framerate is not capped to 30, you have a server browser, squad management, and the ability to play on your own hosted servers, and ofcourse, the graphics are better (higher settings).

Regarding cross platform games, the PC versions tend to be better in almost all regards. BC2 was an example, BF3 is another, it will have 64 players on the PC, 24 on console. The maps on the PC version will be bigger, have support for DX11 features the console versions dont have, and full 3D support. Dont forget dedicated servers and a server browser, and offcourse the better graphics and resolution.

Games that are crossplatform are better on the pc, in that way, you can tell the PC is the better platform. Its pretty dumb and stupid to compare two different games (SS2/Bioshock 2).

To compare platforms, you should use the games that are on both platforms. Although, i dare to challange you regarding the graphics comparison of Crysis 1 in its full glory to any console game.

    Damn trolls.

  5. and this folks, is the state of gaming.

  6. Crossplatform games are better on a well specced PC? Shit the bed.

  7. Well specced, that would be a Quad Core, 8800GTX, with 4GB ram.
With that system, you can run BC2 @ Full HD/high settings. Dont forget that system is as old as the PS3.

  8. It depends on how well the developer optimizes the port. GTA4 for instance is a total disaster on the PC. Even a PC with great specs will struggle with it.

  9. This thread is exactly what this place needed. A PC vs Consoles battle. Love it.

  10. But according to GameSpot, the PC version is the version to get.

  11. Every game out now is better than anything that came before. Nobody needs to play old videogames any more, not even supposed "classics" like Ocarina of Time or System Shock or whatever.

They're old, they look crap and are just a case of rose tinted spectacle vision. Games these days have better effects, play better and hands down smack the old games with their facebook and twitter integration. Old games are for sad loners, new games are for cool social types.

  12. Those are fighting words.

  13. Let's face it, modern games are better in every single way.

You have higher resolutions, better graphics, better effects, higher framerates, more freedom and proper fast internet to play online wit strangers. Can you play System Shock 2 or LTTP with 32 other players? No? Not worth playing.

  14. System Shock 2 isn't a multiplayer game. It's a single player FPS/RPG hybrid. While the graphics are old, it has far more character and weapon customization than modern FPS/RPG hybrids, a great story, and its use of sound is still unrivaled by any game. The game has excellent voice acting and makes great use of EAX. It did things with positional audio that I just haven't encountered in other games. You haven't even played SS2, so how would you know? SS2 is better than Bioshock and Bioshock 2 in every way except graphics.

Your argument is like saying some modern over-CGI'ed summer crapfest is better than a classic movie like Lawrence of Arabia or Casablanca because the special effects are better.

  15. Only way games are better now is graphics.

  16. I never intended that, but I am glad it worked out.

Mostly, but not all. Kids from the new generation only want "OMG haxor l33t grapheeks!"

  17. There is an urban myth that someone important at the US Patent Office once said that "everything that can be invented, has been invented". It came about because someone DID say "The advancement of the arts, from year to year, taxes our credulity and seems to presage the arrival of that period when human improvement must end."

Videogames are like this. We've been through this explosive age where games in their infancy seemed to always offer something new and gradually they become refinements until a breakthrough somewhere just invents a whole new type of gaming. For me, I think the last truly big advancement in gaming came 10 years ago with the advent of the analog controller with 3D games..everything since then has just been a graphical improvement or tweak and this is why people are getting apathetic. There are people out there trying to think up new ideas and I'm fairly sure one will come along soon enough. Maybe someone WILL come up with an awesome motion control idea or something..I don't know.

  18. Either of these will be the future of gaming.

    Take your pick.

  19. Hellripper:

"To compare platforms, you should use the games that are on both platforms. Although, i dare to challange you regarding the graphics comparison of Crysis 1 in its full glory to any console game."

Why should you only consider crossplatform only? That's utterly stupid. It's the fact PCs and consoles differ so much in their respective game catalogues that makes your point so dumb regarding superiority for PCs as a fact. Arbitarily ruling what should be considered according to what you see fit to compare again shows the poverty of your argument.

  20. Your again not supporting your statement that PC is NOT better then consoles.
I have made my arguments of WHY pc gaming is superiority.

The only way you can compare is by comparing crossplatform, this way, you can see the differences between each game, taking advantage of each system. And in most cases, the pc versions is better in a technical standpoint, but aswel larger maps, larger player cap, higher framerate, and server browsers. And ofcourse the fact that the pc versions support the latest DX11 features and higher settings, in combination with higher resolutions (real FULL HD).

The modding scene ensures longer durability of pc games. Its abit dumb to say which platform is more capable with games that dont even exist on both.
If Uncharted would be on pc, it would better too, if both were optimized. Hell, pc's just have more power, live with it.
