You guys should watch Red State. It's Kevin Smith's latest film. It's a tense film about a family of crazies based openly on the WBC. They even picketed the films premiere and Kev himself openly protested their protest. The film is as close as you're gonna get to seeing those fuckers get shot. John Goodman also stars.
Lawyers aren't bright relative to whom? They would need high average to above average intelligence minimum to get acceptable scores on the LSAT and Bar exams. They would need pretty decent analytical skills. And I'm sure the upper tier lawyers are very bright just as in any field. On the other hand, the recommended "pre-law" classes I've seen appear to be pretty candyass coursework with the exception of the philosophy classes, which can be quite challenging with a good instructor. My personal wild guess is that the average lawyer's IQ would be below the average research scientist by as much as a standard deviation (15 IQ points) or more, but that's just my own conjecture. I haven't read any articles that have tried to compare them. I've also noticed that just about every field with a "professional" advanced degree seems to spawn a bottom feeder tier of schools so that anyone not bright enough to get into a legitimate school can still manage to get some sort of degree for the right price. That clown "Dr." Marcus Bachmann for example did not attend a program that is APA-accredited, meaning he cannot be licensed or given a health service provider certification and would have to have someone with real credentials supervise and sign off on all of his work. I'm sure there are plenty of crappy, overpriced law schools as well that dumb affluent kids attend to prove how accomplished they are.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/story/2012-07-17/boy-scouts-gays/56271606/1?csp=34news The Boy Scouts have decided after a careful two year internal review that they still hate gay people and want to exclude them from scouting. That would be fine if they didn't receive assistance from the government. I'm ashamed to admit that I'm an Eagle Scout these days because of what the organization has become. It's gone from being a great way for kids to learn some cool skills and have fun camping to being a right wing hate group. You can thank the mormons for that. They hijacked scouting about a decade ago and are using it to push their twisted "values" on children. I would write the mormon leadership a nice letter surrendering my Eagle Scout pin if I could even find the thing. I lost it in one of my moves. @aks Relative to physicians.
Chick Fil A is apparently run by homophobic scumbags who would be right at home in the Westboro Baptist Church. Looks like I won't be eating there ever again as I don't want my money being donated to right wing hate groups.
Well what a surprise, religion being shitty and immoral. It blows my mind that most religious people think they have the moral high ground and accuse atheists of being immoral when their religion features such antiquated views on things such as gay rights (or lack thereof) and slavery. Next religious person ho claims to be morally superior is going to get a huge fuck you from me. I read a tweet from a "fact machine" (for what it's worth) that 29 states allow employers to actually fire employees for being gay. That's just insane. It's flat out prejudice and surely violates people's rights. Discrimination at its most blatant.
I think Chick Fil A was the same restaurant where someone ended up with anti-Asian racial slurs printed on their receipt a few months back. Something along the lines of "customer # chingy chang slanty eyes" if I remember correctly. So I guess the fact that it's run by bigoted idiots shouldn't surprise me. It is comforting knowing that people like this are going to end up on the wrong side of history, just like the scumbags who thought black people shouldn't have any rights back in the 1960s during the civil rights movement. Imagine how ridiculous people like this are going to look in a few decades. I haven't eaten at Chick Fil A in a long time anyway because the last few times it made me sick. So now I have even less reason to eat there.
I always find Chick Fil A employees hyper excited and too friendly, relative to their job status. It could be that I am a cynical fuck, but maybe they are all religious nutjobs.
I've noticed that too. They're so cheery it's kind of creepy. It's just a drink refill dude. I'm not even that excited about it.
The really creepy part of it is that they reference the government's tolerance of religion as the justification for their own intolerance of marriage equality.
funny part is that chicfila is one of the last few fast food restaurants I go to if I ever decide on fast food
When you're in the right you're allowed to be on a soap box. Descrimination agianst Gays just for being gay is wrong, that's a fact.
you don't see that is why religious extremist are so extreme though? Since they believe that 'their right' is the ONLY right. You do the exact same thing just take out the religion. forcing your views on the world for the sake of the world is the same thing as them forcing their views on the world for the sake of their religious beliefs. In the end there is no better answer than tollerance. You changing the world won't do anything but make you look like a douchebag. I mean just try (if you can)to think about it from their perspective. Without all the details you'd HAVE to assume what they think their doing is "right" according to them, correct? Apparantly their 'allowed' to picket streets with hate signs cuz they ARE RIGHT. In the end, according to me, they are not right, neither are you. But having such contempt for these ppl (be it you for Westborough or them for gays) is pretty dumb. I don't know, hate them privately but stating that as FACT is just extreme BS. IE "I'd shoot them if they ever tried that shit with me' is right (but dispicable in my eyes...) but 'They should be shot for doing that' is having the same mindset these ppl have. Like one has the right to stand on the soap box just cuz he believes his way is FACT. There was a shooting in Colorado today, I bet it was based on intolerance too. Stupidity, whether it's in the name of religion or science.
They hate people because of something they can't change. That makes them bigots and scumbags. Nobody is up on a high horse. Discrimination is wrong, and that's a fact.
really? and how do we define right and wrong? we don't, we can't. There's no agreement on that anyway, what's right for you in your pomp villa in LA may get you shot in islam mor even in the ghettos of Atlanta. I don't believe hatting on gays is wrong per say. Hurting them (be it physically or mentally) is though. In my opinion. My only point is though, that these people are just spreading their beliefs in the same way you all are. In both cases it's boastful, pushy and egregious.
