I watched a bunch of straight to video muppets stuff on Amazon Prime once... and it's a good thing they were straight to video cuz they were terrible. Anything with Rizzo (the rat?? or is it a shrimp...) sucks. I don't think the muppets even like Rizzo. Gotta love the muppets studio on youtube though.
I'm just screwing with you. I don't like muppets that much either. I never really found them cute or funny or anything really. They're pretty annoying. But that being said, they're probably a bit less annoying than some of the crap kids today watch.
Re: Re: Things That Have Made You Angry Today American kids tv is terrible, everything is just educational stuff, entertainment has taken the backseat. When we were kids cartoons were full of laser guns and swords, now its they are full of counting and pauses while the kid is supposed to answer. I don't really let my daughter watch Disney junior if I am in the room as it drives me mad. British kids stuff still isn't too bad but not as good as it was in the 80s. Would still rather watch peppa pig over Dora or Mickey Mouse clubhouse.
Don't start Perry the Platypus. To be fair I can tolerate Phineas and Fern, it isn't too bad and now my daughter is older she will watch it.
Another day, another case of American police brutality. In this case they lined up and shot a mentally ill guy 42 times execution style, and it was caught on tape. American cops seem to have no concept of what constitutes an appropriate level of force in most cases. They use pepper spray or a taser with issues that should be resolved by simply talking to the suspect, and use deadly force in cases where they should probably be using pepper spray or a taser. And when they do use deadly force, they go so overboard with it, it's ridiculous.
This is the same problem I had with the situation in which police emptied their weapons into that wacky guy who came out of a fast food restaurant. Deadly force should be considered as an option in such situations if they are an imminent threat, but what justifies unloading 40 rounds into him? And WTF was the dog for if they just shot him dozens of times anyway? There's something inherently wrong with training and supervision of officers that do these things. In the Marine Corps, we had the "one shot, one kill" mantra drilled into our heads. I've heard that phrase thousands of times. You do not fire into an incapacitated target. You do not unload everything in a panicked, uncontrolled manner. Infantry officers keep a very close eye on targets or threats and immediately call for a cease fire the instant the threat has been neutralized. The reaction of just unloading everything into some mentally ill guy is not something they would tolerate. I have a background in infantry and riflery, and these officers' tactics look undisciplined and sloppy to me. There would be hell to pay if you conducted yourself that way. An infantry instructor or PMI would probably punch you in the mouth if they saw you did this. Again, there is something seriously wrong with the training and supervision of these police officers behaving this way.
If a police officer shoots someone over here the IPCC (independent police complaints commission) is notified right away and they have to do a full review of everything. Even if the guy was shooting kids in a nursery the IPCC would have to get involved. The police shooting an unarmed man last year is what sparked off the riots in tottenham. The rest of it was just thugs and scumbags using it as an excuse everywhere else.
You have an actual police force though where the police are public servants. We have paramilitary thugs who brutalize and terrorize the populace. If you ever come to America, avoid any contact with the police, even if you were a victim of some crime. Don't even say hi to them. You're likely to wind up beaten, in jail, or dead. For instance there was a high profile case a few years ago where some guy was having his house robbed, and they showed up and shot the home owner, and basically just got a slap on the wrist for it. The majority of American cops are poorly trained, power tripping, sociopathic imbeciles who are never held accountable for anything and are just looking for an excuse to murder you and get away with it.
Apple is in the process of pulling these commercials. I have to say that post Jobs, their advertising, which was always one of their strong points, has kind of sucked. It comes across as pretentious and condescending. The celebrity ones were kind of awful. The message of these current commercials seems to be "our customers are imbeciles who need a helmet and dribble cup." "Up to 35% of Americans are stupid or douchebags." LOL
I just got my first tablet the other day and it's much better than a smartphone so far! Let me tell you I'm definitely not mad at it.
