Tomb Raider

  1. Did you watch the new trailer? She got skewered and seemed in quite a bit of pain, definitely wouldn't have seen that in an old game.

  2. Not watched the trailer - I've not paid much mind to Tomb Raider since the awful second game. Tried a few demos but they've never grabbed me - I've not tried the current gen stuff tho.

  3. TR4 (The Last Revelation) was a fantastic game that went back to the roots of the first one, proper tomb raiding, proper game. GET IT!

The Crystal Dynamics games have been OK, anniversary is worth a play but not as good as TR1 and Legends and Underground are decent enough but quite short. Probably worth you picking up the PS3 trilogy pack if you haven't played any of them as they are all good fun. I have been tempted to pick it up myself as I only have the PS2 SD version of Anniversary and TR1 is always good for replay value. My PS1 copy of TR1 is broken (crashes all the time on the 4th level) so I have to settle for Anniversary when I am in the mood (not paying the £7.99 they want for TR1 on PSN).

I will be picking up Tomb Raider as I have played every game in the series with the hope that they finally get things back in track. I don't expect it to be like 1 or 4 in any way and as I say it looks like Uncharted from the new trailer but that only gives me a little more hope.

  4. Sounds like TR4 might be worth a try - I loved the original but thought the others I've tried lost the core appeal of the original. What format is TR4 on?

I've got Anniversary on the 360 but haven't tried it as yet. Your welcome to have it for cost price if I get the Trilogy set. Think I picked it up pretty damn cheap.

  5. PS1, PC and DC. I have all 3 somewhere but the DC version has a REALLY annoying bug. It has a PAL60 mode which really does smooth the game out and makes a massive difference but when I choose it and then finish a level the game crashes. Not sure if it is my DC or if its a fault in the game.

If I were to get a HD version it would be the PS3 one, never really use the 360 anymore and I would rather play any multi platform games on PS3 to add to my trophy score.

The only real difference between TR4 and even TR1 is that it is all set in Egypt (other than the first 'learner' level but you spend a lot of time in tombs which is the important bit.

EDIT: Apparently you can get the PS1 version on the EU PSN store, didn't know that, might have to look into that soon! Saves me hunting for the PS1 disk or getting annoyed with the DC version (which really does seem slow and jerky when played at 50fps).

  7. Oh really?
