  1. Indians have had their own problems with Islamic extremism and terrorist attacks, and their mortal enemy is a Muslim country.

    @alterego

My views don't completely align with the Democratic Party. I'm not in favor of strict gun control. I support the death penalty in certain cases. And I'm okay with taking the kid gloves off in dealing with Islam. Islam is a threat to democracy.

I want single payer healthcare, free or really cheap higher education at state schools, and support decriminalizing marijuana use.

Neither one of these parties represents my views well. I despised HRC, but thought she was less dangerous than Trump. Although I'm not even sure about that because the proxy war she wants to fight with Russia could have escalated.

  3. I could be wrong but in other countries where college becomes free it seems like the perceived value of the degree is lower. When everyone is given a free two year degree it kind of seems like high school is just being extended by two years.

I might also have an unpopular opinion about student loads but when people ask the presidential candidates about their plans to handle "crippling student loans" I'm like STFU. If your loved one gets cancer and racks up $100k in bills you can say, "hey I didn't see that coming, how can you help". When you sign for $25k in loans every year for 4 years and then are suddenly surprised by the $100k your obligated to play back, you need a dose of reality.

The real world value of an undergraduate degree (with the exception of maybe engineering) is already pretty low thanks to easy access to federal student loans. I don't see how it could get much lower. I'd go as far as to say that most undergraduate degrees are next to worthless, which is why I think the price of them needs to be adjusted to reflect their real world value.

I also think student loans are somewhat predatory in nature. They go after 17/18 yo kids who are barely adults and have no idea what they are getting themselves into. They have big dreams that rarely materialize and then they are left with a ton of debt and a degree that qualifies them to fold shirts or make caramel macchiatos. In the case of for profit schools, they are totally predatory, should all be shut down, and the people running them should be prosecuted for fraud.

  5. This is a moot since Trump will give rise to the for-profit college Industry.

University's have become predatory they charge the same price for art history as they do engineering. They will have vastly different returns on investment. Most 17-year-olds are not going to grasp a $200,000 transaction and understand what is or isn't an effective ROI. They will sign on the dotted line and pay for it for 20 years.

Free tuition may not be the answer. But each university program, graduation rates, placement, and default rated should be investigated. Loan guarantees should be adjusted accordingly. That fake University of Phoenix has default rates of +90%... those are tax payer guaranteed loans on a worthless degree.

  6. Housing, health care, and higher education are all predatory markets due to the fact that they're essentially a requirement for anyone to have any reasonable expectation at quality of life. People are automatically over a barrel and they all operate like mafia protection markets most of the time. There should be quality public options for all of them.

  7. Most 17/18 year olds are dumb as a ton of bricks. They have zero life experience. They are still pretty childish at that age. Preying on children with predatory lending is pretty messed up.

  8. Our university fees used to be free, then our greedy privately educated MPs decides to make it £3000/year around the turn of the century. A few years ago our even greedier, rich and educated for free back when it was free conservative bastard pig fucking leaders decided that wasn't enough and raised it to £9000/year.

Now our graduates have a £27,000 debt before they even factor in housing or food over the 3 year stay.

That's actually not bad by American standards. We have kids coming out of undergrad owing two or three times that, and often more, especially if they went to a tier 1/Ivy League type of school. People wonder why millennials aren't buying houses. Their student loan payments are as much as a mortgage.

To be fair, our 24 hr news networks in this country are a shitshow. Totally biased and sensationalist. Fox is the worst, but they are all bad. They deserved to get their asses reamed. Especially Erin Burnett. I'd love to ream her sexy ass.

  12. Yeah, off-the-record...and then Trump is likely the one that leaked the info so he can:

    A. Look like a tough guy beating up on the media to his mouth-breathing followers
    B. Add another complaint to his media whining..."they betrayed my trust and leaked this!"

  13. The average student loan in the US is around $30k but people who go to private schools can go well over $100k for a 4 year degree.

Maybe the government needs to put warning labels on student loans. For example...

Your chosen degree at that school will cost $120k
There is only a 35% chance of getting a job using that degree
It will take you 35 years to pay off the loan.

  14. It's really bad. Most people seem to think the news stations are only biased towards one political viewpoint but the truth is they are all biased toward profit. There was a time when news was hard to get and the media would deliver whatever story could get their hands on. Today there is so much information available that these news stations are mostly acting as news filters. They choose what gets through and what doesn't. What does go through is the most sensational stuff that can get the most viewers and generate the most profit.

  15. Flip side: a sizable percentage of Americans have abysmal critical thinking skills when it comes to the news, regardless of the quality...so why bother with quality?

  16. Like I said... it's just noise to cover up for gross negligence and incompetence. Any sub-80 IQ persons falling for 'fake news' was searching for their own confirmation bias anyway. The DNC fraudulently ran the least likable candidate in history and got fucked by an obvious internet troll (with an assist from Anthony Wiener and the FBI).

  17. You fell for the fake scandals, and still seem to believe Clinton being nominated is a "fraud" despite winning both the popular vote and the delegate count in the primary by wide margins... AND while other political parties like the Green and Libertarian simply chose their candidate without any voting taking place.

  18. They aren't fake scandals... there is still on-going FBI investigation into the foundation LOL. The emails were political theater for sure. She committed the same acts as her co-workers and predecessors, but that is not the same as doing nothing wrong. The FBI director went on TV and implicitly stated that the peasant class would've been fucked for doing the same thing.

The fake news people are talking about are the demonstrably false claims clipped like news articles. Some from partisan shill sites posing as news. Stuff about the Clintons having people killed, Hillary hating ordinary Americans, etc..

Also, very few people mean the actual votes are rigged when using the term rigging. But having the DNC bully and blackmail members and put their vast resources into ensuring Hillary wins, is fraudulent. The DNC is required to stay impartial regardless of what the Green and Libertarian party do...
