Surprise Surprise, Operation Deep Space Warp Speed 2: The Next Generation was total bullshit and there was no real plan at the federal level for vaccine distribution I feel like we elected a villain from a Simpson's episode. Trump was basically the monorail scammer or The Leader from the cult episode.
It’s going to take nothing less than JEB BUSH to rehabilitate the GOP. People are saying look out in two years... I think the Ds might get a supermajority at this rate.
It's anecdotal but every Trump sign in my neighborhood disappeared after 1/6. And there were a lot of them.
I heard on the radio one guy saying he wouldn’t vote Trump again because he didn’t attend the inauguration. I think most people will rationalize and justify anything in the moment. But once the dust settles they accept defeat and move on. Everyone left are nut jobs. I’ve never seen this level of fanaticism in my life. Over a politician at that. Apple doesn’t have this level of crazy.
So what you're saying is that Trump is an even better con man and cult leader than Steve Jobs. That's high praise.
Interesting factoid. Senator Patrick Leahy, who will be presiding over impeachment 2.0, has been in 5 Batman movies.
So the best charge they could muster up against Trump… is a sketchy misdemeanor paying off a porn star that they are gonna ram through as a felony? Is the Soros funded DA a double agent for the Koch brothers? Because all this will do let DeSantis stroll into the White House next year.
Yeah I don't get it either. Trump has done so much sketchy or downright illegal stuff and paying off a pornstar is what they are going to nail him on? Not inciting and enraging a mob of MAGA thugs and nutjobs and setting it loose on the Capitol building? Not asking an election official in Georgia to "find more votes." Not any of the really sketchy financial and tax stuff he's done?
In a vacuum, I don’t think DeSantis can win a national election. He’s a overhyped try hard without the charisma or likability of Trump. The Beto of the Republican party if you will. However, arresting Trump on sketchy charges may have unintended consequences with red turnout. Similarly to Roe v Wade blue turnout.
Desantis is like the GOP version of Hillary Clinton. In theory he should be well qualified. In reality he has zero charisma, he's not funny, he's bad at public speaking. He's also controversial with his culture war publicity stunts, authoritarian laws, and involvement in torture at Gitmo while in the Navy, and just in general has a serious likability problem. I see him falling flat in a national election. He won the last election here in large part because he had an extremely weak opponent who was basically a boring moderate Republican running as a boring a moderate Democrat. It was more of a referendum on absolutely no one liking Charlie Crist than people actually wanting Desantis.
It seems like the only people who enjoyed it were the Trump diehards, and they're not going to watch CNN for any other reason than something like this. It was also lots of free publicity for Trump, so I'm sure he was happy about that.
Anyone want to talk about how Dems ran the EXACT same campaign they did in 2016 against the same opponent, right down to the bland, forgettable running mate being named TIM in both cases, and expected a different result? Unlikeable woman run with a rigged primary or no primary + boring running mate + identity politics = FAIL Also how the fuck did they not realize that the main issue this election was the high cost of living for average people? Bernie warned them repeatedly about this. If groceries, rent, and gas cost a fortune, people are going to vote out whoever is in office. The other side was running a New York billionaire, and somehow Dems managed to look like out of touch clueless elitists. So now we get another Orange Man meme presidency because people collectively threw a temper tantrum. Yay. Edit: Also the Dems needed to either go all in on prosecuting Trump or just leave him alone. The wishy washy approach they took just gave him ammo for his "I'm the most persecuted man to ever exist in our universe" speeches. If they wanted to keep him off the ballots using The Constitution they would have needed an actual conviction for insurrection, which they dicked around so much on they didn't have. The Democratic Party needs new leadership. What a bunch of clueless fuckups. Beating Trump would have been easy if they had run someone even slightly electable who knew what issues voters cared about. Hint: it wasn't luxury issues like transgender rights. Also trying make the election about "saving democracy" when you didn't even have a primary makes you look like hypocrites. Why did they let Biden stay in so long? It was clear back in 2020 he was going to be too old to ever run again.
It's tough for me to believe Biden and Harris were the two best candidates the Democrats could have possibly fielded. Biden has looked like he belongs in a memory care unit of a nursing home playing Bingo for the last several years, and Harris is basically an even more irritating version of Hillary Clinton's personality complete obnoxious with Joker cackle downloaded into a different body. I think many people are finally getting so fed up with identity politics that they've just given up on Democrats. For me, the surge in crime is a major issue. If you look at many of the extremely blue cities that voted overwhelmingly Harris, most are places I not only would not to live in but would be uneasy if I even have a layover in the airport there and there's an off chance I could have to spend the night at a hotel there. Oakland, Detroit, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Minneapolis, ect. No interest in going to these places these days. We had a pretty steady decline in crime for around +20 years that has fallen apart and reversed. Some of that could be attributed to the COVID pandemic, but most of it is people acting crazy while governed by absurdly dumb changes in the legal system. California is reversing their insane Prop 47 legalized criminality bill with Prop 36, so eventually that state might start to look inhabitable again someday. There was also that crazy case in New York where a house was condemned due to having the pipes so clogged with human remains it was uninhabitable, but the criminals were not locked up because it wasn't a bail eligible offense. How can you have plumbing that is so stuffed full of human remains that the house is condemned but not go to jail as a result? I don't know how the Democrats could really have an answer for this issue because they were directly caused largely by their own policy changes. Also, the "saving democracy" sentiment doesn't hold up very well when they've been calling him an immanent threat, ran up a bunch of questionable legal charges that look very politically motivated, and compared him to Hitler for years potentially inspiring some loons to actually try to murder him. Nothing demonstrates a strong democracy than not permitting any primary for your own candidates, politically motivated abuse of the justice system, and potentially inspiring someone to kill the guy you don't like. Trump was quite careless and irresponsible regarding the "Stop the Steal" bullshit, but he had to face significant consequences for that in terms of impeachment and getting thrashed in the media about that specifically for the past 4 years. Lefties have been throwing around Russian conspiracy theories and calling him Hitler year after year without any consequences other than the results of this election.
