It's light armor, not a full suit. Really just a chest plate and a few other things. The assassins, at least as depicted in the first game, were real. They even had a secret mountain fortress similar to the one in the game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassins
It is not armour per se, but an new look with more defence or whatever. it may sound like armour, but is more of a look change in Ac2.
I'm just about to to play a massive add on/mod for Oblivion. It's called Nehrim, was is production for 4 years and apparently is more like a whole new game than an add on. I was referred to it by a colleague who said it's possibly better than Oblivion. We shall see.
I found my Quake 4 copy and managed to get it working. I remember when my old computer struggled to run it at 1024x768 on high and medium settings. My laptop breezes it on ultra at 1600x1050 (had to force the resolution becuase there was no direct option for it) and my laptop doesn't even get hot, infact the air from the vents was cool after a couple hours of play amazingly.
I am actually a bit annoying with 3D dot game heroes and not sure what to do. I was on the fire temple boss (the dragon) and as I hit him with the final blow he also hit me and so I died. As annoyed I was at dying and having to do it again I went back to the room but to my surprise he was gone and I was able to pass through and get the orb. As soon as I had it I saved and as I was leaving the temple I realised that I hadn't pick up the life up for killing him but it wasn't in his room! Now that I have saved the game I can't simply reload so I have a feeling I might be screwed. I might try reviving him and see if it drops if I kill him again but if it doesn't that will mean I can't get the trophy for collecting all of the life ups and I won't be happy. Its kind of put me off playing to be honest and I am 99% sure that reviving him won't bring the life up back.
I gave up on Nehrim (Oblivion based game) because although I knew it was dubbed in German I've realised I can't be doing with that. I thought I could handle it, I want to because Nehrim is a totally new game using Oblivion as a base. New lands, new races, new universe altogether. It's huge too. I hope they'll re-dub it in English because I can't be arsed to read the subtitles while some dude shouts at be in German. I don't feel immersed. Shame.
I don't think so. My old laptop developed a serious overheating issue. Is sometimes turned itself off due to being too hot, but I think there was a problem with the fan and I could hear stuff rattling about in that area. This one is no-where near that bad. It only gets hot when using desmume, epsxe doesn't create this problem nor does playing dvds/surfing the web/playing oblivion. It gets especially hot if Im using desmume in bed and the laptop is on the soft heat absorbing surface of my duvet. On a slightly related note, I'm playing Pokemon Pearl now and have just encountered a camper person who's using Piplup! This is the first time I have ever seen the computer use one of the starter pokemon, is this right or an emulation error? Also when you pause the game it says how many pokemon are in your pokedex. I'm pretty sure it only counted pokemon you owned but now it includes pokemon you've seen as well. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong of course.
Well I decided to continue with 3D dot game heroes despite the fact that it screwed me over with the last life up and I am glad I did. The 6th dungeon was the best yet and I managed to find the heroes sword along the way. Might try to book and ace all of the remaining bosses I need to do before I move on now that I have the better sword and the ring that cuts the damage I take which will be easier for booking. What a fantastic game this has turned out to be.
Very much so, more like Zelda 1 than any other but not as basic obviously. There are tons of side quests to do, some hard trophies to go for and its an all round fun game.
Portal 2. I'm playing single player and so far it's pretty much the same as Portal 1. The pace is faster so I expect it will pick up soon. I had to charge one of my controllers so I haven't tried the split screen yet.
Demon Souls It finally turned up and I had a go late last night. I only intended to play for a little while but 1-1 ended up being massive so I was on until gone midnight. At first I wasn't too sure but the more I played the more I enjoyed myself. I didn't have any trouble with the level and managed to get through the entire thing without dying. The boss took a little while but after I had fire bombed the hell out of his buddies it wasn't too bad at all. The worst bit was waiting for my MP to recharge as physical attacks were pretty useless. My 2 gripes so far are.. No map[/*] Long levels with no easy access back to the nexus[/*] At times I got a little lost (although this did mean I found a lot of hidden treasure) and it would have been nice to go back to the Nexus to stock up but as I didn't die I had to play the entire level from start to finish. I started with Royalty and it seems a pretty well balanced class. The spell they start with has probably been my main attack with the rapier backing me up when I ran low on MP.
Did you get the special edition? I found the book that came with it very handy. AKS knows tons about if your stuck - the online stuff is nice too, so that'll be a bonus when PSN is back.
Easy access? This is Demon's Soul's, Grim. Royalty is easily the best class because they have low Luck and start at soul level 1. You can shape them the way you like. I should warn you that the other bosses are significantly tougher than the first. The first big test is at the conclusion of 2-2. You should just expect to die at least a couple of times. One of the key things that people struggle to come to terms with is that you aren't supposed to be able to ace every level without dying as you can in many modern games. There's a lot of trial and error. That's the aspect of the game that forces you to keep that shield up and learn to roll to evade. Most games let you just mash the buttons wildly without much consequence. You actually have to build up your defensive skills in Demon's Souls. You'll find that you learn the maps and begin to open up short cuts in many cases. For example, you can now run right through 1-1 into the beginning of 1-2 in a matter of seconds, whereas you had to do quite a bit of dungeon crawling to get to that point the first time through. There are few places that you would need a map to keep from getting lost. The caverns of 2-2 are the main area that got me lost, but I think it's supposed to be that way, and there is an alternative route in which you can get to the boss very quickly.
I don't think there was ever a point where I didn't run around with my finger on the L1 button. Dodging is easy enough, the only thing I haven't gotten to grips with is the parry, I haven't got the timing down yet so I tend to take damage if I try it. What level should I go for next? Some people seem to go 1-1, 2-1, 3-1 etc and others go 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 2-2 etc.
I didn't use the parry much, really. If you are playing against a human opponent online, which can be the toughest opponents you'll ever find in Demon's Souls if they are elite players, a hint of lag screws up the parry. Rolling is the most effective defense. Always keep equip weight to 50% or less if you want to defend yourself from invaders.
