What Games Are You Playing?

  1. WoW Rogues are awesome in the right hands.

  2. It's still around $33 on the Steam store, so I'm not going to loose any sleep over it if I have to wait awhile to get it cheap.

  3. Gamefly has had XCOM for $20 a couple of times now, and it's Steamworks so it doesn't matter where you buy it. I wouldn't have paid $33 for it, but for $20 it was a no brainer with all the great reviews it's gotten.

I haven't played the original XCOM from the 1990s, but I would describe this one as Civilization crossed with Mass Effect. I can't imagine anyone who liked either of those series not liking it. There's an overall strategic portion where you build a base, launch satellites and jet fighters, and conduct research, and a squad based tactical portion that's a bit like a turn based Mass Effect.

  4. Anyone else playing the new Need For Speed: Most Wanted?

  5. Chi might have it. Or he was thinking of it, just the other day.

  6. He was thinking on it. It's quite an enjoyable game, but it can get quite samey after a while. Really tempted to go for the plat but the online ones as usual turn me off.

  7. That's what I was worried about. At least Burnout Paradise was fun online

  8. I am enjoying it though, so that is all that counts. Worth getting anyway.

  9. Far Cry 3

The 360 version...it's solid, but nothing spectacular so far (only a few hours in). It's a bit goofy that the island is absolutely crawling with vehicles and weapons, yet you have to "craft" your own rucksack and weapons belts etc. like you're Robinson Crusoe.

  10. I've got most wanted on the Xbox. I'm probably the only one here who has one though.

  11. The whole game is a bit silly like that but it makes it fun. Hang gliders on top of mountains and self serve gun shops in every safe house are a bit odd as well.

  12. Get a PS3!

  13. Been playing arkham city but the combat is really dull and putting me off. Just feels like a load of button mashing.

Last night the idea of mashong buttons didn't appeal so I picked up FFIX again.

  14. WHAT? The combat mechanics are great. Stop playing it wrong, I demand it.

  15. You just mash square and occasionally hold triangle to counter. Dull.

  16. Still playing Persona 4 Golden. This is one of the best RPGs I have played. It's huge too.

  17. I've got a ps3 you fool. I just choose to get most of my games on the Xbox because pretty much every time I play a game that's on both consoles the Xbox version runs better. Skyrim, FarCry, and Call of Duty being prime examples. They run like crap on ps3 but just fine on the less powerful Xbox.

I've been playing a lot of Black Ops 2 recently and thouroughly enjoying it. I don't like the way they've designed the maps to really stamp out camping. No matter where you are on any map you can be seen from at least 2 angles meaning to stay still is to die in most cases. As a result I don't use assault rifles anymore, I've switched to SMGs because I'm always turning corners and finding myself confronted with an SMG wielding guy and at close range SMGs pwn ARs. So now I have a perk that make me run for longer, and I got my gold camo for the SMG called the Chicom CQB which kicks so much ass it's crazy. It's a burst fire weapon but there's almost no delay between shots resulting in practically full auto fire with damn near zero recoil. If I can get the gold camo on all the SMGs I'll unlock the new diamond camo, that's my goal at the moment.

The gun I've been using a hell of a lot recently:

  18. Saints Row The Third

I didn't think I'd like this game but I'm having some fun and I already think it's better than GTA. The Humor is very similar to Archer and the voice acting even sounds like Archer. I wonder if there is a connection.

  19. Oh snap. I think I enjoyed it more than gta4 too. Dunno what Archer is. Didn't really notice the humour but that's secondary when one has the Apocafists.
