I tried to play RF:Guerilla today for the first time. The destruction does seem really cool, but there were big bugs with the objects/weapons/character models disappearing and only coming back at certain angles Must be a driver issue since it's an old game and I'm using beta drivers. The original was fun... well, digging tunnles with a friend in 2 player was fun, until you hit the damage limit and couldn't continue digging. The damage in Guerilla is pretty damn good, I love when the buildings collapse. The game though, I can't see it being great myself and going off what I've read. I might revisit it if new drivers can fix my issue.
Tomb Raider I played for an hour or so and got to the fourth campfire. The game is just great, plays like Uncharted but it's twice as fast, twice as packed with action and just looks gorgeous. I expected a solid one considering glowing reviews and it stands up for the expectations.
The first one. I'm about 60% through it and I'm liking it a lot more now. The story starts off really weak but it gets better.
Is it really that old? It still looks pretty good. I'm playing it for two reasons. Reason 1: there is nothing new out that I want to play. Reason 2: it was almost free. I'm playing Walking Dead at the same time so there is that. Hitman Absolution will be next.
Started Red Faction Guerrilla. I'm not liking it as much as Armageddon. It's the guerrilla tactics that I don't care for. Attack, run away. Attack, run away.
I just started dishonored a couple of days ago. I was expecting it o blow me away as everyone seemed to love it when it came out last year. My first impressions of it weren't great but now I realise it's a good game. The blink ability is especially fun. It's like the whirlwind sprint shout on skyrim only useful.
It takes a good while to get going. I really enjoyed it in the end though, especially once I got use to using all the different powers.
Yeah I'm enjoying it. I think the level design is superb, allowing many different routes through almost every section. I'm trying to kill as few people as possible as I've heard that's the way to go but sometimes you've just got to cap some asses, especially when you unlock murderous abilities.
It's easy to get a very chaotic run. I think I only just avoided the worst outcome. I think my oversight of knocking out enemies with hand to hand didn't help. I replayed a few missions to see different ways of handling them. Word of warning if you're trophy/achievement farming - you can't revisit levels later to get stuff you miss.
I logged into steam for the first time in over a year. Quickly went back to my Counter-strike crack that made me shun Steam in the first place.
I've tried to quit a few times but I always come back. The rampant hacking is the only thing that motivates me to keep away.
Counter-strike is probably the most balanced FPS I've played in terms of the weapons and maps. I think that's why it's still popular, despite being ancient.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Picked it up preowned in Game on impulse and used my remaining reward points so got it for under a tenner. I've forgotten how much I've missed the original. Tag team tekken is awesome. I didn't download the patch when I first played and arcade mode was kicking my ass on easy. The patch made easy mode actually easy. The game came with NamcoBandai points which hadn't been claimed, so I took those. Haven't tried the online pass since I doubt I'll be playing it online.
I downloaded that game as I've been after it for a while but haven't had the urge to actually play it yet as I know it's just going to piss me off what with all the co start shorty juggling that goes on in tekken these days.
Bioshock Infinite I'm sure I'll get reamed for this but so far it seems like a very average game. The art direction is great but it has some other issues going on. AI seems disorganized and it has some of the worst sound errors I've experienced in a game in a long time. Enemies can be behind wall but sound like they are right next to you. The story seems kind of weak but I'm hoping it gets filled in as time goes on. I'm only about 2 hours in so maybe it'll get better.
