What Games Are You Playing?

  1. How do you milk a mushroom? Do they have tinny little udders?

  2. Mooshrooms, they're red cows with mushrooms growing on them. You find them in mushroom biomes.

  3. I play AC3 and just got into 6th sequence where Connor gets his assassin's outfit.

I am rather disappointed. The plot is boring and the game feels like some important scenes are just missing. It jumps from place to place and never stops for longer to let me get used to things, places, people. It is like I am somewhere outside of the game.

I hope it gets better as I progress further on.

  4. I forgot how complex Skyrim can be. I'm having to research all my spells again because I can't remember which ones do what.

  5. Don't they have helpful tooltips?

I'm playing monster hunter ultimate on 3ds. Picked up a circle pad pro for a fiver. Currently on 5*village quests and just reached HR2 in the tavern

  6. How does the circle pad pro feel like on the XL, do you find it better for the camera then the d-pad/L-button flick?

  7. I have a standard 3ds but it really improves the grip and I use the extra shoulder buttons to rotate the camera. The second slider greatly improves camera stuff in underwater battles but I don't use it that much on land since I'm always attacking.

I only really use the L lock to find the monster when I enter a new area and can't see it immediately. Other than that I only use it underwater when the creature is in an awkward position behind me.

Got mine for £4.99 so totally worth it.

The touch screen d pad was just about usable but I had it resized so it was smaller so I didn't have to stretch my thumb so far but it would sometimes pop the camera up/down or not register properly.

  8. Does the 3DS incorporate touch and motion controls well? I'm wondering how all the balloon waving works.

  9. I finally got around to buying the walking dead the other day, because everyone seems to love it. After I got over my "The graphics are rubbish, the frame rate is choppy, and the animations make the characters move like robots" phase I began to enjoy it. I haven't felt sad yet, I'm led to believe that's the main emotion this game evokes. I did however feel extremely angry at two characters. One in particular I can't wait to kill violently, that cunt. I've done episode 1 and am looking forward to playing episode 2 tomorrow.

  10. ep2 is the peak of that series. i just want to let you know that so you dont have too high hopes after that.

  11. Touch controls are pretty nifty. You can customise the panels you have on the touch screen. I have the map, items (just to get them off the main screen when I'm not using them), combo panel and the quick lock button. Before I had the CPP I had the dpad on there.

The game doesn't use any motion controls

  12. Yeah I'm almost done with episode 3 and so far episode 2 was the best.

  13. I thought you had a 3DS XL. I could not play MH on that tiny screen.

  14. It took s bit of getting used to but it's fine now. My main bugbear is the terrible font, which doesn't work well with the 3ds's low res screen. Also the fuzzy 2d image when 3d is turned on. So I've turned that off

Just started up dragon's dogma dark arisen too

  15. But still...

The 3D and resolution look better too on a XL, but if your happy with a small screen it cannot be that bad. I bet MH is a chore on a small screen?

  16. It's not really a chore. I find the jumbo sized pixels on the xl worse than a smaller screen.

The XL's screen may be larger, but the resolution is the same.

  17. I found the pixelation an issue with the DSXL last gen; Very much doubt I'll bother with getting another model of the 3DS. Besides, I haven't played my original 3DS for months and I don't see that changing. What a waste that was, very much regret buying it.

  18. None of the newer or future games tempting you, Monsly?

  19. Same here. Who needs a handheld console if you have smartphones/tablets. Gameboy, gba then, ds, ds lite and 3ds and it seems that I am done. If I could send a message regarding console gaming to myself from 2 years ago - that would definitely say "do not buy 3ds".

  20. I am 10 hours into Ni No Kuni and the initial admiration is totally gone. I am now at the top of the volcano and the whole place was a disaster, a jrpg nightmare. I immediately recalled why I don't play jrpgs.

What's wrong then? First, the graphics. The beautifullness of forests, with trees, leaves, flowers is gone. Instead, the whole place is deserted and painted with blurry textures. Then, you have tunnels leading you to the top so that you can't really run from enemies, you just bump into them EVERY F***ing 10 seconds. Not only that, since the map reveals itself when you travel, often you just take a wrong turn, hit a dead end and have to go back. But guess what, enemies respawn so that you fight back all these monsters you have already beaten.

I still play and just hope I just stumbled upon a worst moment of the game so that when it is finally gone, the game is back on right tracks.
